Arja operetta is in fact effective enough to serve as a campaign medium. Through total traditional performing arts, all the programs and events can be packaged and then delivered to the public. The characters in the classic art can disseminate all the products and appeals straightforwardly. Even, it is sometimes expressed in the form of jokes. Such a promotion is now taken by the Badung County government. Promotion of the international events like the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit which to be held in Nusa Dua on October 6-8, 2013 was done through the operetta show of the Arja Akah Canging.
“As a host, it is one of the ways to promote the APEC event to the wider community,” said the Head of Badung Transportation, Communications and Informatics, I Wayan Weda Dharmaja, amid the staging of the Arja operetta in Wantilan Hall of Kapal customary village, Saturday (Sep 14). The activity was attended by Director General of Information and Public Communication (IKP), Ministry of Communications, Freddy H Tulung.
Weda Dharmaja explained that Indonesia was entrusted to organize the international event like the APEC Summit 2013 involving the countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Selection of the arja operetta was very appropriate and effective for the APEC Summit socialization. “This Balinese traditional art is populistic and liked by all levels of society,” he said.
Through the staging of the arja operetta, his party hoped the information submitted would be more easily acquired by wider audience. “The staging poses collaboration between the Badung County government as the committee and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics as a leading sector in the socialization of the APEC Summit 2013,” he explained.
