Lifeguard Compete in Kangaroo Country

Lifeguard Compete in Kangaroo CountryLifeguard (Balawista) athletes from Badung, Gianyar and Denpasar coalesced into the national team will participate in the Rescue 2012 Interclub Life Saving World Championships in Adelaide, Australia. The team was released by Deputy Regent of Badung, I Ketut Sudikerta, accompanied by the Head of Badung Government Tourism Office, Cokorda Raka Darmawan, and Spokesperson of the Badung Government, AA Gede Raka Yuda, Monday (Oct 15).

Fourteen athletes will compete in the world championship taking place on November 2-19, 2012. They consist of 6 men and 6 female athletes, an official and a team manager. “This event can also be used as a venue for tourism promotion,” said Deputy Regent Sudikerta in his speech.

According to him, it was very important for the progress of tourism as it was inseparable from promotional event that could contribute to the increase in tourism, reputation of the region and the athletes themselves. “We do hope the entire team members could always maintain their physical condition in order to follow the championship in a good condition,” he affirmed.

On that occasion, Sudikerta also hoped the Government Tourism Office to immediately establish lifeguard units at villages such as the Pecatu, Ungasan, Kutuh, Seseh and Canggu. To motivate the athletes, Sudikerta personally provided financial assistance. (BTN/015)
