Undeniably, the Tanah Lot tourist object has become a major tourist destination in Bali. Thousands of domestic and foreign tourists always come to enjoy the natural attraction and unique culture. “Sanitation and services extended become the main requirement to maintain the Tanah Lot as an attractive and sustainable tourist destination,” said Operations Manager, I Ketut Toya Adnyana. Amidst the greening activity at Tanah Lot, Toya said the habit to maintain the sanitation had also become a powerful promotional tool in drawing tourists. Besides, the tourist object with green, safe and comfortable atmosphere also gave a positive value, so that tourists would come to visit again. “Currently, we are promoting green program to create shady objects,” said Toya.
The greening action this time was made by the management of Tanah Lot in cooperation with Aqua, a trademark of PT Tirta Investama, Warmadewa University and community of Beraban village. Through the community-based integrated waste management at Tanah Lot, all the participants planted trees in the parking area on Saturday (Dec 22). In addition to the greening activity, through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Aqua also processed the waste of coconut shells. “The idea of processing coconut shells comes from the high production of coconut shell waste per day here,” he said.
Related to the coconut shell waste, Toya said, in a day it could reach 1,000 pieces. “All this time, the coconut shell waste becomes a problem as disturbing the spectacle of Tanah Lot that has been a national and international tourist icon,” he added. Meanwhile, the Director of Sustainable Development of PT Tirta Investama, Sonny Sukada, said that related to the coconut shell waste program his party made cooperation with the Warmadewa University. The coconut shell waste would be processed into briquette, aroma therapy and incense. (BTN/015)
