UHA, Keeping the Village Clean

UHA Keeping the Village CleanThe Ubud Hotel Association (UHA) is a proactive group of local hospitality executives united by the desire to encourage and support sustainable growth of membership hotels. This is ultimately achieved through fostering international links, developing innovative marketing initiatives and training opportunities. Additionally, UHA strives to cooperate with government bodies and other likes minded organizations to improve all facets of Ubud’s evolving tourism sector.

“On I2"` December 2012 UHA officially celebrate its 8th anniversary with fun walk and cleaning blitz around the village followed by an award ceremony at Wantilan Ubud. This event is the conclusion to a number of social activities that have taken place around Ubud over the past two months. The theme for this year’s anniversary is ‘Magical 8’ (Preserving the Nature, Culture & Spiritual Tourism of Ubud)” said Heri Sumawan, UHA Chairman.

I Wayan Sambara, 8th UHA anniversary committee chairman say that “The anniversary schedule got off to an inspiring start on 20th October 2012 with a Blood a Donation Campaign hosted by Maya Resort. Members of UHA as well as the Bali Hotel Association (BHA) generously participated in an attempt to boost local blood supplies and help those in need, on November there was an old-fashioned bike ride against a backdrop of rice terrace scenery. With wearing a traditional Balinese costume whilst balancing a basket of hand-made offerings on top of his or head head However, the main anniversary activity was the donation of organic and non-organic rubbish bins to the people of Ubud, placed in public spaces around the village to heighten community awareness and emphasize the importance of keeping the streets clean.”

“Ubud Known as the cultural pulse of Bali, Ubud is also the place to wander through galleries and museums exhibiting collections of paintings and eclectic art works. As evening falls, the village presents an array of graceful dance performances depicting tales of Hindu mythology and Balinese folklore. This rich heritage is a source of local pride and almost everything about Ubud revolves around art, religion and tradition and let tourists experiencing Ubud hand—in•hand with someone special makes each and every encounter truly memorable.” Heri added (BTN/14)
