The Regent of Badung, AA Gde Agung, officially opened the sixth Badung Cultural Festival (FSBB) in the outermost courtyard of the Lingga Bhuwana Temple on Thursday (Nov 1). The event was intended to brush up and preserve the culture as a form of government’s care about the art and life of the artists and their creativity.
“The festival is an open space for young people to work and show off their creativity,” said the Regent Gde Agung in his speech. The festival itself, he explained, posed a form of effort in preparing the human resources with an ethics, character and impact to the community.
In addition, the festival was in line with the five principles of development in Badung Regency in the effort to preserve the culture (Pro Culture). “We strongly support the implementation of FSBB coupled with the third anniversary of the Badung capital, Mangupura,” he said.
Through the FSBB, the Regent hoped it could increase the cultural creativity and the art workers creativity. “Besides, it is also capable of motivating young people to love their sublime arts and culture,” he added. Meanwhile, the Head of Badung Culture Agency, Ida Bagus Anom Bhasma serving as Chairman of the Organizing Committee reported that FSBB activity was an event to show off the artistic talent born in Badung. “On that account, the theme highlighted is ‘Bhawadnyana Kriyadiguna Januraga’ meaning that let’s show off our self-creativity armed with the spirit and perseverance,” he said.
The competition held to jazz up the event consisted of baleganjur gamelan music (children, youth and general category), Balinese pop song (children and teenager category), Angklung Kebyar and Gong Kebyar (children, women and adults) presenting the envoy of each subdistrict, the contest of penjor as well as Parva Workshop by the Badung artists.
The event attended by the officials, leaders, artists and the public were also graced with an painting exhibition by artists from the Badung Regency and filled with Bonsai exhibition. “There are also performances of traditional arts every night from each subdistrict throughout Badung. Especially for the competition, it will take place until November 16,” he said. (BTN/015)
