Bangli Rich in Culinary Tradition

Bangli Rich in Culinary TraditionBangli having a very cool atmosphere is in fact also rich in culinary traditions. Various native menus were presented in competition of the Refreshment Menu Creation in the series with the 809th anniversary of Bangli town on Friday (May 31). Visitors from all walks of life could only smile when witnessing a variety of tasty and delicious menus.

Atmosphere of the competition organized by the Family Empowerment and Prosperity (PKK) also looked so familiar. Such refreshment competition took advantage of non-rice ingredients such as pumpkin, strawberry, sweet potatoes, apples, potatoes, violet yam and corn. There was also watermelon processed into a variety of dry and wet refreshment.

With duration of 90 minutes, all the participants were required to meet four criteria consisting of the quality of taste, presentation techniques, performance and hygiene. The event involved 54 participants from Bangli County originating in the representatives of the regional working units (SKPDs), state and regional-owned enterprises as well as women farmer group (KWT).

Chairperson of the PKK of Bangli County, Mrs. Erik Gianyar, said the competition was held to explore the potential of typical refreshment owned by Bangli County. A variety of refreshment creations getting involved in the competition signified the potential of special refreshment of Bangli. “We can ensure that foods produced in this competition are all healthy because the raw materials in use are not mixed with preservatives,” she said.

The event held at the Giri Kusuma Cultural Hall of Bangli was attended by the Regent of Bangli I Made Gianyar, First Assistant to Bangli Regional Secretary I Wayan Lawe, Chairperson of the Bangli PKK Motivator Team Mrs. Erik Gianyar, Chairperson of GOW Bangli Mrs. Sariasih Sedana Arta and related working unit heads.
