Eight recent works of art created by the Balinese artists make proud. The works of art are not only beautiful and entertaining, but also proving that Balinese artists continue working endlessly. These works of art were introduced and staged on open stage of the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar in a series with the art night of the Anniversary XI and graduation day XIII, Thursday (Jul 24).
In the performance, there were at least 4 works of creation dance and 4 works of gamelan music as well as a work of installation art. They were supported by the students of the two faculties, namely the Faculty of Arts and Design (FSRD) and the Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP). The students denoting the candidates of the academic artists were good at visualizing the imagination of the choreographer or the composer.
Atmosphere of that night art was getting more intimate because the college distributed Jinggo rice for free. “We are optimistic these works will be absorbed by the public as the recent works. Hopefully, the latest works of two faculties at the ISI Denpasar will be acceptable to the community as well as become a model for people in making performance that can be used in their own communities,” said the Rector of the ISI Denpasar, Dr. I Gede Arya Sugiartha.
The night art was commenced with the performance of collaborative composition entitled Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram (the true, good and beautiful) by featuring the work of bamboo installation. These works of art consist of the main installation backed up by seven objects representing seven study programs existing in the FSRD. The installation works were responded differently with the performance of contemporary dance and music as well as show by Department of Fashion Design.
The idea of the composition by I Ketut Murdana presented the concept of pillar authenticity of human beings. The artists composed it through neutral, cheerful, cool, aesthetic and blissful language. Its music was supported by Vrata Wijaya Ashram Denpasar, artistic ideas by I Wayan Sujana (Suklu) and fashion by Cok Istri Ratna Cora.
After that, the audience was led to outdoor open stage of Nretya Mandala to see new works in the form of gamelan music and dance. The work of I Ketut Gede Asnawa, namely Lelambatan Tabuh Lima entitled Tapuk Manggis first appeared through the works of gamelan music. The next composition was Tabuh Pepanggulan entitled Merdu Komala by I Wayan Darya.
The performance of welcome dance presented the Puja Stuti by AA Ayu Mayun Artati and I Wayan Windia. All the women danced it beautifully as well as answered the vacuum for nearly ten years where there had been no new welcome dance composed. It was different from the Legong Creation Dance entitled Wargasari by Ida Ayu Ratih Wagiswari, and Dewa Putu Rai. While performing the Legong Dance, the dancers also sang classical songs.
