Eight years of Sanur Village Festival

Cultural Spirit non-negotiable

Eight years of Sanur Village FestivalCultural spirit has been non-negotiable in every implementation of the Sanur Village Festival. It is reflected by each performance presented. Similar concept also happened to the opening of eighth Sanur Village Festival featuring the theme Segara Giri graced with several art performances.  Denpasar Mayor, Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra, said that every cultural show presented became a nice spectacle for the public. On that account, such an activity had to be organized sustainably with a non-negotiable cultural spirit.

“With the branding ‘Morning of the World’ I expect that Sanur tourism can continue. I am proud that SVF can be implemented up to eight years,” said IB Dharmawijaya Mantra before officially opening the 8th Sanur Village Festival, Tuesday night (Sep 24) in the Maisonette area of the Inna Grand Bali Beach Sanur marked with the sticking of kayonan puppet.
Chairman of the Sanur Development Foundation, Ida Bagus Gde Sidartha, said the passage for eight years of the festival had very much inspired people and the creative industries to keep on promoting the destination through an independent and innovative promotion. “The art and cultural activities supporting the Sanur tourism strengthened by the awareness of the environmental preservation poses a capital to maintain the festival continuity,” he said.
Sidharta said the festival was a celebration of life for the people of Sanur to raise the potential of nature, art and culture, a variety of dynamics and creativity. The festival would like to promote the local potential to global community including through the performance of the arts, sports, environmental care, culinary bazaar, exhibition and creative industries.

This festival originated from the concern of Sanur residents to participate in the recovery program of Bali tourism after the second Bali bombing in 2005. In the first implementation of SVF (2006) and the second SVF (2007), the theme highlighted was The New Spirit of Heritage which was then used as the basis for the sustainable SVF. Meanwhile, the subsequent implementation of the SVF developed the basic theme into the theme of activities namely the Going Green (2008), Marine Life (2009), Saha Nuhur (2010), in collaboration with the National Flora Flori Week taking the theme Flori Fiesta (2011) and Salampah Laku (2012).

Having been inaugurated, the performance presenting the fragmentary show entitled Segara Giri, Legong Intaran and appearance of Ayu Laksmi & Swara Semesta and Dwiki Dharmawan could draw thousands of spectators. The entertainment taking place until the middle of the night was also jazzed up with Indian Dance, Ocha & Universe and Rasta Kids.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday (Sep 25) aside from the exhibition was also held a cultural discussion on the Segara Giri: The Universal and Contextual at Sudamala Resort & Villas, while at night was resumed with the presentation of many performances including the Sundown Jazz ethnic music, Bhakti Negara martial arts, Batu Jimbar ballet, endek fashion show, Kita Art, Balawan ‘In Rock Jamz’ and Small Axe reggae.
