Kartini's Anniversary at Tanah Lot

Kartinis Anniversary at Tanah LotEverybody in Indonesia have know every March, 21 is anniversary day for Raden Ajeng Kartini. Raden Ajeng (Adjeng) Kartini or, more accurately, Raden Ayu (Ajoe) Kartini, (April 21, 1879 - September 17, 1904), was a prominent Javanese and an Indonesian national heroine.

Kartini is known as a pioneer in the area of women’s rights for native Indonesians. Kartini was the fifth child and eldest daughter in a family of eleven, including half siblings. She was born into a family with a strong intellectual tradition. Her grandfather, Pangeran Ario Tjondronegoro IV, became a Regency Chief at the age of 25 while Kartini's older brother Sosrokartono was an accomplished linguist.

Kartini's family allowed her to attend school until she was 12 years old. Here, among other subjects, she learnt to speak fluent Dutch, an unusual accomplishment for Javanese women at the time. After she turned 12 she was 'secluded' at home, a common practice among Javanese nobility, to prepare young girls for their marriage.

During seclusion girls were was not allowed to leave their parents' house until they were married, at which point authority over them was transferred to their husbands. Kartini's father was more lenient than some during his daughter's seclusion, giving her such privileges as embroidery lessons and occasional appearances in public for special events.

At Tanah Lot, on kartini,s anniversary this time like usual fulfilled by visitor. Most of them are group of students from java island. They came to Tanah Lot , Bali to perform study tour. Before going to Tanah Lot, they also have visited Nusa Dua, Sanur and Kuta. Tanah Lot is the last place to visited before they back to their area. This morning, estimated there are six bus which park in parking area. Every bus consist of about 40 until 50 peoples. They also going to Tanah Lot Temple to seen the panorama but the sea water and sea wave already high.

Before afternoon, the places will fulfill by visitor which wish to take a rest for few moment. Most of them, will fulfill enjung galuh area and batubolong area, and wantilan which exist in surrounding Tanah Lot Temple. This place is favorite places for most visitor to take a rest while enjoying the sea panorama.
