Serangan Island Festival Encourages Local Potential

Serangan Island Festival Encourages Local PotentialImplementation of the Serangan Island Festival (FPPS) 2013 took place vibrantly. Various activities were held ranging from presentation of the arts, sports to culinary delights. Even, the annual event lasting for three days (Nov 14-16) could revive the local potential of Serangan Island. Sport activities became the favorite of visitors starting from decorative regatta, tug of war, mangrove tour, canoeing, community-based sanitation, green camp and other activities attractively packed. Meanwhile, at night the community could enjoy some beautiful entertainment specifically presented for the public.

The Head of the Denpasar Environment Agency (BLH), AA Bagus Sudarsana, when closing the festival on Saturday (Nov 16) said it received positive response from the public of Serangan. Even, during the implementation it was capable of increasing and empowering all the local potentials. “After implementing the event for five years, the Serangan Island Festival slowly began to rise and showed off good results. As evidence, the event was capable of encouraging the local potential of Serangan Island such as the handicraft industry, mangrove tour and the undersea beauty with amazing coral reefs. Last but no less interesting was the culinary treasures of Serangan,” said Bagus Sudarsana. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, M. Zulkifli, hoped the activity could give positive impact on the mindset and the behavioral pattern of Serangan community in the effort to advance the potential of the area. In the closing session, aside from the conferment of various prizes to winners of several competitions, the event was also enlivened by Rodat art, Duta Denpasar arja operetta and entertainment by Kiss Band.
