The Art Goodwill Team of Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) Singaraja will present the arts of Indonesia at the Université de La Rochelle, France and Windesheim University in the Netherlands. The opportunity was obtained after successfully qualifying as a representative of Indonesia in order to strengthen the international cooperation. This art show will be held on September 8-11, 2014.
The art troupe supported by 30 artists comprises 23 students and lecturers. The arts to be displayed include the theater Layonsari composed by Kadek Sonia Piscayanti and traditional dances of Indonesian archipelago. Among them, there will be the dances of Aceh, Batak, Papua and Bali. In addition, it will also be held a workshop on Papuan body painting, painting with the puppet technique and the dances of Bali.
Preparation has been undertaken properly. They have made regular exercise before departure. Exercise in the framework of this art goodwill is monitored by Prof. Dr. I Wayan Rai S, one of the expert team members from the Directorate General of Higher Education.
The art director of the staging, Kadek Sonia Piscayanti, said the theme featured in the staging of the cultural event was the harmony in cultural pluralism. “Bali is a melting pot of various ethnic groups living in harmony. Therefore, our team raises the culture of the archipelago,” she said.
Deputy Rector IV for Cooperation Planning, I Wayan Muderawan, Ph.D. said the Undiksha was very proud because it was the first experience of winning the overseas goodwill of the art and culture. “It is done to strengthen the cooperation of Undiksha with the universities visited,” he added. (BTN/015)
