The world ethnic musicians were amazed by the beauty of Tanah Lot tourist attraction. This admiration was also realized through the making of World Culture Forum inscription. It contained the invitation to all citizens of the world to preserve the ethnic music of any nation. The inscription was submitted to the Regent of Tabanan Ni Putu Eka Wiryastuti at Tanah Lot, Wednesday (Nov 27). Aside from serving as expression of admiration, the making of such inscription also posed a special gift for the 520th anniversary of Tabanan Town and the pride of Balinese people. This inscription is the first and only one in Indonesia. Submission of the inscription commenced with a suave dialogue. Then, the regent received the inscription one by one.
The inscriptions contained the signature of the world’s top ethnic musicians including the officials of the Republic of Indonesia such as the Minister of Education and Culture Mohammad Nuh and Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare Agung Laksono and several prominent Indonesian musicians. At least, ten groups of musician the world showed off their capability. They came from Japan, Russia, Australia, Indonesia, Korea, Iran, Africa, China, India and the United States. On that occasion, the Regent Eka gave her appreciation for the selection of Tanah Lot by the world ethnic musicians. She hoped the inscription would make Tabanan better and well known in foreign countries. “The inscription poses an honor for the residents of Tabanan. We hope this will bring in a positive impact on Tabanan and Indonesia,” revealed the Regent Eka.
Related to the ethnic music, the regent said that her party always did conservation seriously. Even, a variety of local potentials of Tabanan continued to be discovered and then developed. Development of the ethnic music inscription was also expected to increase the interest of foreign tourists, especially the artists. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Karya Cipta Indonesia Foundation, Dharma Oratmangun, said the making of inscription would bring in a good reputation of Indonesia, especially Tabanan. The ethnic musicians of the world would always remember the history forever. “It has become a world history of the ethnic musicians. We entrust these inscriptions at Tanah Lot and will be remembered forever,” he said.
According to him, the inscription of ethnic music did not have political motif. Even, all human beings were considered equal with the slogan “We Are One in Harmony.” Submission of the inscriptions was attended by some figures of Indonesian music such as Enteng Tanamal, Mother Lolita, Candra Darusman, Franki Raden and Bens Leo. “This inscription will bring the world’s message on the importance of peace,” he said. Tabanan County featured a Genggong or jaw harp, namely a musical instrument made of bamboo and played by blowing it. The ethnic music performances became the pride of Tabanan because it could appear in the world arena.
Operations Manager of Tanah Lot tourist attraction, I Ketut Toya Adnyana, said that he was happy and proud of Tanah Lot attraction as being chosen as the venue of the inscription making. Aside from enriching the attraction, the development of world ethnic music inscription also became a record of the history of the art. “Development of this inscription also poses a promotion for Tanah Lot,” he said. The inscription would be placed at Enjung Galuh, a few meters to the west of Tanah Lot Temple. “With this inscription, we do hope visitors will come back to Tanah Lot,” he revealed. (BTN/015)
