Ten Countries Participate in World Ethnic Music Festival in Bali

Ten Countries Participate in World Ethnic Music Festival in BaliBali hosted the implementation of Word Ethnic Music Festival 2013. This art event was participated by 10 countries, namely the USA, China, Russia, India, Japan, Africa, Iran, South Korea, Australia and Indonesia. The activity having relation to the implementation of the World Culture Forum in Bali was held over two days (Nov 25-26) at the Denpasar Art Center. All participants from various countries made optimal performance in the international activity entitled “We are one in harmony.” Each group involved 8 to 10 personnel. They presented a distinctive ethnic art of their own country.

Indonesia was represented by Bali by presenting Ayu Laksmi and her group Svara Semesta. In her performance, Ayu Laksmi - Svara Semesta was also reinforced by the Magic Finger Balawan. Although still being young, the ethnic music group was capable of becoming a magnet with her distinctive characteristic and the strength in world music.

In the performance, Ayu Laksmi was also accompanied by maestro of the archipelagic traditional music such as from Kalimantan, Java and Sumatra like Sutendri Yusuf and Saat Borneo (Mochammad Saat Shah). Meanwhile, the Balinese artists supporting her appearance were I Made Subandi and I Ketut Lanus, including the Magic Finger Balawan. “In the performance at this time, we show off the Unity in Diversity concept through music and musical instruments existing in Indonesia,” said Ayu Laksmi.

Meanwhile, Japan was represented by Soka Gakai Foundation, a group of creative arts from the Sakura country. The slant-eyed artist group claimed to be happy and proud to be involved in this festival. “Aside from introducing our art, we also hope to see good performances from other countries,” said the group leader of Soka Gakai Foundation.
