Hindus in traditional dress visited Tanah Lot Temple when Purnama Kapat or more known as forth full moon, Saturday (Oct 19, 2013). At that moment, many Hindus who came from various regions in Bali such as Tabanan, Gianyar, Badung, Denpasar and others prayed in some temples. For example Batu Bolong Temple, Pakendungan Temple and so the main temple in Tanah Lot Area.
This praying activity was very unique because taking place from morning to night. It made the foreign tourist to take picture of Balinese. “Every purnama the people here believed that now is propitious day, because God descends to the earth and gives His blessing. So, we always make special offering to the God, give alms, reciting kidung (religious hymn) or set a pilgrimage to a remote temple,” said the Operational Manager, Ketut Toya Adnyana.
Not only purnama, in some special days like tilem, buda wage, anggara kasih, saraswati, siwaratri and others also crowed by many Hindus people to pray. “Balinese people here said that this day is the best time for making good deeds or doing religious activities, Adnyana added. (BTN/ocha)
