Ritual to Appeal Universal Well-Being Held in Three Temples

Ritual to Appeal Universal Well-Being Held in Three TemplesTo spiritually anticipate the occurrence of natural disasters in the Badung region, the Badung government was organizing Pemahayu Jagat ritual simultaneously in three temples such as the Penataran Pucak Mangu, Uluwatu and Linga Bhuwana Temple, Monday (Mar 17). This Pemahayu Jagat was to invoke safety and establish natural harmony considering the Badung region was highly vulnerable to natural disasters. Besides, it was also meant to plead in order the implementation of general election on April 9, 2014 could run safely, smoothly and successfully. The ritual in the Penataran Pucak Mangu, Petang, was attended by the Regent of Badung AA Gde Agung accompanied by Mrs. Ratna Gde Agung with leadership of the regional working units in the Badung government. On that occasion, the Regent of Badung AA Gde Agung said prayers along with the leadership to invoke safety of nature and its contents and for the smooth implementation of general election.

Meanwhile, the Head of Culture Agency, IB Anom Basma, said the Pemahayu Jagat ritual was carried out in three locations, namely on the mountain in the Penataran Pucak Mangu. It was officiated over by Ida Pedanda Putra Pasuruan from Griya Taman, Lukluk and Ida Pedanda Budha from Griya Tegal Jadi, Tabanan. Then, for coastal territory (segara) the ritual was held in the Uluwatu Temple and officiated over by Ida Pedanda Gede Kemenuh from Griya Gede Sembung and Ida Pedanda Budha from Griya Panti Denpasar. Ultimately, for mainland territory (negari) it was held in the Lingga Bhuwana Temple located in the Badung Civic Center and officiated over by Ida Pedanda Putra Keniten from Griya Kediri, Sangeh.
The series of oblations presented in each temple included the bebangkit with Caru Wraspati Kalpa and sacred mask dance. For mountain territory, the ritual was implemented in the Penataran Pucak Mangu and the coastal territory in the Uluwatu Temple. It was also accompanied with pekelem or animal sacrifice using a goat. Holy water of each temple was mixed together in the Lingga Bhuwana Temple and all customary villages invoked the holy water for the implementation of the Pemahayu Jagat ritual in their respective customary village. This ritual was essentially aimed at anticipating natural disasters and succeeding the upcoming general election.

After attending the ritual in the Penataran Pucak Mangu, Regent Gde Agung also attended the inaugural ceremony of Bale Agung at Desa Temple of Abiansemal customary village. Regent Gde Agung with his wife and accompanied by Spokesperson of Badung government AA Gede Raka Yuda and Abiansemal subdistrict head Thomas Yuniarta said prayers and handed over donation worth IDR 30 million and was received by Chief of Abiansemal customary village I Made Kandra Suraga. According to Made Kandra Suraga the building of bale agung pavilion and bale peliangan pavilion of the temple cost approximately IDR 150 million.
