Badung
The Center of Tourism
Traditional
Village of Baha
The Badung Regency
is rich in tourist spots. Almost every
10 kilometers, the regency has an interesting
place that is worth seeing - Kuta and
Nusa Dua beaches for example. These two
are famous all over the world as are many
other places of natural beauty and fantastic
views.
Not
just beaches, Badung regency has a lot
of mountains. In this edition, Bali Travel
News will report on one of the traditional
villages in Badung, Baha Village. This
village is also famous for its fishing
pond where you can catch fresh fish.
Just 4 kilometers northeast of the famous
royal family temple Taman Ayun
next to Mengwi village is a unique traditional
village named Baha. Workers dominate the
population here and traditional community
farmers who own large rice fields and
the Subak organization that
mainly functions to regulate water distribution
for irrigation.
The Subak community has a
hall that is locally called Bale
Subak Lepud as a place for meeting
and preparing rituals related to rice
production. The uniformity of typical
entrance gates to family compounds combined
with the traditional housing structure
presents an impressive appearance of the
village. The village temple of Pura Desa
at the southern part of the village is
adorned with traditional sculpture and
is worth seeing.
Baha village is the nearest village out
of town where traditional manners could
be found. Located about 20 kilometers
from the center of Denpasar city, it is
strategically located between the tourist
sites of Sangeh and Taman Ayun. It is
relaxing to hang around the fishing pond,
especially for those who are tired and
bored of daily routine activities at the
office. The sound of water flowing in
the nearby river (which is not far from
Taman Ayun Temple) is capable of refreshing
the mind, body and soul.
Baha fishing pond is equipped with a number
of buildings including Balinese style
Balai Bengong and other fishing and support
facilities. A holiday here is most pleasing.
You are not only presented with natural
beauty, beautiful views and cool fresh
air, but also your patience can be tested
- because you need to wait for the fish
to take your bait!
The heat of the sun here is no longer
an obstacle, because of the big shady
trees around. When you are tired of fishing,
you can take a break and lie down on the
Balai Bengong, where the kings of Bali
used to relax. There is no noise to break
the peace, only the birds singing and
sometimes the croaking of frogs and other
natural music. Fall asleep on the Balai
Bengong and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Baha fishing pond is quite big because
the Badung Administration provided 4 hectares
of land for this tourist development.
It is located not far from Denpasar, about
15 minutes drive from the city. Currently
the fishing pond management has successfully
developed one hectare of the allocated
land. There is one main fishing pond,
besides other fishing ponds used for germination
and breeding purposes of various fresh
water fish.
The pond area is often used as a place
for Balinese government officials to relax
and conduct informal meetings. The Regent
of Badung, I Gusti Bagus Alit Putra, often
invites journalists to test their skills
at fishing there. And currently this place
is being promoted as an alternative tourist
attraction - after you get bored of other
tourist spots that you have visited many
times.
The Badung Administration seems to be
serious in managing this fishing pond.
The Badung Administration is building
a giant aquarium in the area next year.
The aquarium is expected to function as
an education and research center for various
species of fish in Bali. As an education
center, students who are interested in
fresh water fish studies will surely often
visit the Baha fishing pond.
Currently, those who are interested in
fresh water fishing only visit this tourist
spot. Do you want to go fishing? Baha
fishing pond is ready to welcome you all,
and the entrance ticket fee is negotiable.(yan
