A Success for the World

The
Bali Golf and Country Club located in Nusa
Dua, Bali recently hosted the Presidents
Cup Golf Tournament. The purpose of this
event was part of various Bali Recovery
initiatives following the tragedy, which
took place in Kuta on 12 October 2002. Bali
For The World was the theme of the
golf tournament with the hopes of proving
to the world that activities in Bali are
running as normal.
The event itself was held on 21 and 22 December
2002 at Bali Golf and Country along with
the other golf courses in Bali, namely Bali
Handara Kosaido Country Club and Nirwana
Bali Golf Club. There were approximately
150 golfers from around the world participating
on each day of the 2-day tournament.
The awards presentation and closing ceremony
was held aboard the Bounty Cruise Ship on
22 December 2002. (*)

Bali for the
World Golfer
Lady
golfer, Le Son Dool, from South Korea won
first place in Bali for the World
amateur golf tournament after showing her
spectacular performance from 20 22
December 2002 in three golf courses respectively
in Nusa Dua, Bedugul, and Tanah Lot after
defeating 200 contestants participating
in the tournament marking Indonesian Mothers
Day 22 December.
Indonesian golfer, Ms. Sudana, won second
place, with a total gross of 1,48 points,
detailed with 73 points gained at Nusa Dua
Bali Golf Club and 75 points at Bali Nirwana
Resort Golf. The tournament participants
originated from various countries, among
others 20 golfers from Singapore, 20 from
Europe (except Britain) and 25 golfers from
Indonesia.
Bankers, hoteliers, travel agents, travel
writers, and airline officials were also
present to watch the event with the positive
effect of being able to see the post-bomb
condition of Bali to the advantage of the
consolidation of tourism on this island,
