What
to be done when facing low occupation rates
Most
hotels in Bali are facing low occupation
rates after the Kuta bomb. Should they sack
their employees when facing this situation?
What is the best thing to do? Firing employees
should be the last choice. Before this is
done, the hotel may ask them to work fewer
hours or they may be asked to take annual
leave or a long leave. These may cut the
operational costs of the hotel. Saving hotel
operation costs can also be made by reducing
the consumption of electricity and water
and so on.
When hotels face low occupation rates, it
is the best time to renovate. In addition,
training could be conducted.
