Handicrafts in Bali
Dewan Kerajinan Nasional
Daerah Bali, the committee of National Handicrafts
of Bali (Dekranasda), has been making headway
in order to advance the handicraft industry
in Bali. Among other schemes are annual
design competitions.
 Besides
looking for new designs of handicrafts,
it is also the opportunity for craftsmen
from Bali, Jakarta and other parts of Indonesia
to share innovations. For example on 5-8
June 2003, Dekranasda Bali is inviting a
few craftsmen to join the Indonesia stand
at an exhibition in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
The other routine exhibition is PPE (Pameran
Produk Eksport / Export Product Exhibition)
in Jakarta and also the Bali Art Festival
each year in Denpasar. (wis)
