English Course Certificate 

TANJUNG BENOA – To improve relationships and helping in educating the local community, Bali Tropic Resort & Spa is holding an English course for the best 20 students from the elementary school in Terora. The course is held twice a week over three months in the meeting room of Bali Tropic Resort & Spa, taught by professional English teachers. Shown in the picture, Made Sudana, school principals handing over the English course certificate to the three best students witnessed by Gede Gunawan, General Manager of Bali Tropic Resort & Spa. 


PWI’s Honorary Members  

DENPASAR – Local PWI Indonesian Journalist Association conveyed the title of honorary member of the newsmen association to the Governor of Bali, Dewa Made Beratha, in a ceremony held at Denpasar’s Kertha Sabha House on Sunday, 9 February 2003. Photo shows Dewa Made Beratha, flanked by General Chairman of the PWI association, Tarman Azzam (R) and Bali’s chairman of the association, Djesna Winada (L) assisting the governor to put on the coat decorated by the association. 

Cultural Exhibition on National Unity  

KINTAMANI – About 25 ancient objects inherited from the Majapahit Kingdom were on exhibition at Lakeview Hotel & Restaurant in Batur, the Kintamani Resort in the Bangli Regency. An elder of Majapahit Temple of Trowulan, Hyang Suryo Wilotikto, opened the exhibition on Saturday (01 February 2003). Government officials of Bangli Regency, represented at the opening ceremony made use of the opportunity to watch the exhibition projected to last until 28 February 2003. The exhibition targeted an aim to eternalize Indonesian nation’s cultural objects and to motivate the younger generation not to forget history. (sana)

 

 

Transfer of Gong of Peace  

KUTA – Governor of Bali, Dewa Made Beratha, contributed a gong for peace to the Head of Cultural and Tourist Development Institute, Styanto P. Santosa, who was to lead the Indonesian Delegation to Geneva on Sunday, 2 February 2003. The gong, struck by President Megawati Sukarnoputri on the eve of 2003 New Year in Kuta, Bali, rang its sound on the occasion of the “Second Global Meeting on Peace Achievement through Tourism II” organized in Geneva, Switzerland, from 6 – 8 February 2003. National Press Day 

DENPASAR – National Press Day and the 57th Anniversary of PWI Indonesian Journalists Association were noted on Sunday, 9 February 2003 in Bali. The celebration of the day took place in Denpasar’s Cultural Park, with President Megawati Sukarnoputri and journalists from throughout Indonesia. The president of the Republic of Indonesia, took time to look at an exhibition of pictures and photos related to the Indonesian Press Struggle, following her address. The pictures originated from the Bung Karno Library Institute.
