Four World Golfers Participate in the Bali Invitational

From the Nirwana Bali Golf Club, professional golfer, Nick Faldo (England) came out as the winner. Playing for a few charity organizations, Nick Faldo succeeded to score 6 under par, and surpassed the 15th world rank of Australian top golfer, Robert Allenby who scored 3 under par. The 2nd world rank of South Africa, and the three times champion during 2003, Ernie Els finished with 2 under par and the top young golfer of England who was born in South Africa 23 years ago, Justin Rose, finished in under par 72 at that exhibition tournament. Bali Invitational exhibition contributed a total reward of USD 100,000 that was directly handed over by President Megawati Soekarnoputri to each of the winners at the 18th hole.

After the game, the President met those four golfers at the 18th hole and expressed thanks for their participation in attracting world attention to Bali that it is still a foremost tourism destination of the world.
Nirwana Bali Golf Club become a witness for the expertise of those top four world golfers. In a press conference held after the ceremony, Nick Faldo said,” I’m glad to play on this challenging course. But, this tournament is not dedicated just for individual winning. The four golfers involved in this Sunday (9/2) game realize that we are here to show to the world that Bali is still peaceful and secure as a tourism destination,”
In his short declaration, Nick Faldo fully supports Indonesia and Bali so that in the next days a lot of tourists will come. This tournament is an exhibition tournament, to attract the world public. “Our main impression is how beautiful and peaceful Bali is, and for that we came here to support the recovery of Bali and Indonesia.”
The second winner Robert Allenby added,” It’s an honour for us, to come to Bali and give a little help for the recovery of this island after the tragedy of October 2002 we give our regards to the entire Balinese people,”
The prize of USD 100,000 was allocated to few charity organizations in Bali, including desa adat Kuta, scholarship program for eight children of the bomb victims and a junior golfer program.
Benny Pranata, Bali Invitational committee, said besides giving the support for the recovery of Bali’s image to the outside world after 12 October tragedy, this is a tournament to also attract the world attention that Bali is still safe and suitable to visit.

Indonesian Bank’s Trainees Going Abroad 

DENPASAR - BI Circulation Bank sent 50 trainees to take part in an Outward Bound organized by Bali’s Branch of Outward Bound to follow a training course held in Buleleng’s Tamblingan Lake for two days on 14 and 15 December 2002. It was a management training to increase creativity and analyzing ability of 10 officials found among the 50 staff and to render optimum power to executives in settling their office tasks. Indonesia’s Outward Bound so far has opened branches in Bali, East Java, and East Indonesia, Jakarta’s Branch Office of Indonesian Outward Bound @ has operated since its inauguration 12 years ago as a member of Outward Bound @ International.
