Sacred
Mountain Sanctuary Hotel
Do You Want To See The Old Balinese Style?
.
If
a guest longs for Ubuds charm that
has prevailed since the 1960s, Sacred Mountain
Sanctuary will certainly satisfy his or
her longing. It has the natural religious
atmosphere typical of Bali, amidst the cool
and peaceful surroundings of traditional
villages which, still remain in Sidemen
village, Karangasem, where the Sanctuary
is located. In addition to its environmentally
friendly design, the resort serves as the
most ideal spot for spiritual tours. Erected
by the bank of Telaga Waja River that flows
clear, fresh water, the resort is surrounded
by rice and other fields belonging to local
people. To the east, the lofty Mount, Agung
stands majestically and emanates magical
charm.
As can be seen from the resorts balconies,
the resort seems to occupy the upper area
of the river that flows to the foot of Mount.
Agung. The pacifying sound of flowing water,
twitters and chirps of wild tropical birds,
mountain breezes, scattered praying places
and grandeur stones in the river are all
it takes to evoke a magical and religious
atmosphere. It goes without saying how this
resort has then turned into a favorite place
for tourists of a spiritual disposition
and for meditation devotees. In addition
to strolling along the river, hill hiking
and enjoying rice fields, meditation constitutes
the most popular activity conducted in the
afternoon or evening.
It did not come to anyones surprise
that the Sacred Mountain Sanctuary claimed
the silver medal in Tri Hita Karana award
for two years in a row, in 2001 and 2002.
The resort has proudly welcomed very distinguished
individuals, such as Madame President of
Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri
and her entourage of government officials
who once spent the night in the resort.
Another celebrity, Mick Jagger, the Rolling
Stones vocalist, also shared his holidays
and leisure time in the Sanctuary and left
the hustle and bustle far behind. I Dewa
Made Arimbawa, the General Manager now runs
the Sacred Mountain Sanctuary.
