Colorful
Beads
Accessories
are becoming more and more popular as fashion
items and many colourful accessories are
currently being made from beads, including
necklaces and rings. The right accessories
can enhance an outfit and the wearers
appearance.
Beads
were actually created and used a long time
ago by our predecessors going back to the
Stone Age. They also used them for various
accessories. As they believed in life after
death great care was taken of the dead and
accessories were used as gifts to be taken
into the next life. Some kinds of bead accessories
were found in the sarcophagus such as the
items found in the famous historical sites
at Gilimanuk Beach, West Bali.
They made such accessories by a poured on
the point that was to be holed. In the later
stage they were able to make smaller holes
and perfect surfaces. On entering the period
where bronze and gold were discovered, they
began to make the accessories of bronze
and gold.
Although many kinds of gold and silver accessories
are now available on the market, bead accessories
still attract so many people. Due to the
developing creative design a wide range
of choice is available to consumers such
as necklaces, rings and bracelets. Beads
are made of many materials that can be taken
directly from the surroundings including
the shell of dead mollusks, dried beans,
and cuts of bamboo and wood. Some other
materials are bronze, silver, resin, plastic
and gold.
The use of bead accessories is not limited
to the daily usage but also for some occasions
in relation to religious rites For example,
a holy priest on duty will wear beads. After
the three-month rite, a baby is given a
necklace consisting of beads with an ancient
small silver coin. Having used it for a
certain period, it is taken off, then handed
down to the next generation. (Punia)
