Mangku Pastika
Make Bali Peaceful

The Police Chief of Bali, Inspector General Made Mangku Pastika, has promised to make the Island of God peaceful and free of any disturbances that could threaten security and order and damage the image of Bali as one of safest tourist destinations in the world. The new police chief of Bali supported this principle by reasoning that this island has become a barometer of peace, security, and harmony worldwide.
He therefore suggested that the Balinese community take precautions and protect themselves by reporting any suspicious behaviour to security institutions. He cited the example of someone preferring to be alone, not mixing with the rest of the community and only going out to eat. Police Inspector General Mangku Pastika stressed at a recent press conference that reporting such a case immediately to the security authorities would be reasonable as it could prevent events like last year’s tragic incidents reoccurring. He promised to mobilize his forces to work hard towards establishing Bali as a safe region.
He guaranteed excellent security conditions on this island for everybody, including overseas tourists, especially at places of interest and strategic sites. He added that important events such as the trials of the defendants of the Black October bombing (2002), the ASEAN summit meeting and the 2004 General Elections should be given priority in safeguarding the stability of this region.
