The event was to be held in November 2002, but due to the Bali Tragedy it was postponed and rescheduled to March 2003. Then due to the Middle East crisis, it was re-scheduled again to April 2003. The event was finally on track with a hundred delegates from 15 countries.
Immediately after the World Bank Extractive Industry Review (EIR) Asia Pacific, Sheraton Nusa Indah Resort and BICC played host to yet another international conference organized by UNICEF “South East Asia and Pacific International Consultation on Children”, attended by 200 delegates from 28 countries. The event was officiated by Her Honourable President – Megawati Soekarno Putri. Casa Grande Sponsors Bali at EIBTM

Since the Bali bombing last October, hotel occupancy rates have averaged no better than 20 percent, and arrivals to the island are down from at least 5,000 a day to 1,500.
Bali representatives that normally attended EIBTM had written off plans to attend EIBTM 2003 due to the current situation in Bali, until a key meeting between Casa Grande, a number of Bali Destination’s Management companies and Tom Nutley, the chairman of Reed Travel Exhibition in April, who was convinced that Bali deserve better.
Casa Grande and RTE took the initiative to sponsor Bali Representatives to be present at EIBTM 2003, and have 4 executives from 4 Bali Destination’s Management companies in Bali carrying the torch for the Bali Island in Geneva. The representatives were Mr Ida Bagus Lolec, Mr Jack Daniels, Mr Marc Jacobs and Mr Roberto Don. Their main purpose was to bring back Bali image as the island of peace and to convey the messages to the industry that Bali is the safest places in the world and has not lost any of its paradisiacal, tropical charm
The feed back they have received is very positive, as many are still in love with Bali and are eager to support Bali to its recovery. (*)
