Tri Hita Karana and Tourism in Bali (10)
Tri Hita Karana and Bali Tourism (10)
When the Local Worker Becomes the Host?

For the time being, the Bali tourism industry is known as the potential worker absorbent. It competes sufficiently with the agricultural sector but, off course, it is seized predominantly by this service industry. In this article, it is recorded only at ring I – of that having direct contact with the hotels, restaurants, travel agents, tourism attractions. Not including the subsequent ring, which appears as in spin off of tourism activities such as vegetable dealers, butchers, fruit stands, flower merchants, etc.
The previous edition’s article, presented the worker population data absorbed in the hotel sector, position, and businesspeople’s reasons for not using local workers in strategic position. So how about the restaurant sector?
The visible illustration from the hotel and restaurant are exactly the same. The percentage progress was detectable, but still far behind with the outsider worker (domestic and foreigner).
The percentage the outside workers (domestic and foreigner) is much higher rather that of locals. From 339 local workers from the observed restaurants, only 5.9% had become the director, meanwhile the domestic workers reach the second place, and the highest is sited by the foreigner worker. There are two main reasons why ousiders (domestic and foreigner) and not locals are in management positions :
Discipline of time management
Hard worker type
