In the core of crisis of Bali tourism, SQ is always taking an active part in inviting the overseas journalist to Bali Island. The expectation of this program is to support the recovery of Bali tourism after the Kuta’s bombing and tourism awareness for SARS infection. “We did this thing, just to enlarge the world’s eyes that Bali is still safe and appropriate to visit,” he said again.
To maximize this promotion event, SQ held an approach system to the world tourism agency. Besides inviting the travel writer from several of overseas medias, SQ also doing an approximation to the overseas tourism agency, such as the overseas tourism travel biro, etc.
This pace must quickly process, reminds that the tourism condition and situation of Bali is getting worst lately. We must invite them to see Bali with their own eyes to observe the truly situation of Bali. Lately, they, all of those travel writers, can inform about the secure and comfortable of Bali condition for a visit to the global world. By then, the image of Bali soon will recover gradually.
In one month, SQ had invites travel writer to Bali for twice, which is on 4th and 11th of July 2003. Early July, they invites 6 Danish newsmen, and next of 5 Turkish travel writer who sight seeing in Bali for a few days. “Hopefully in each month, we are able to bring the journalist,” he said while asserted, on the end of July or early August his side will bring the journalist of TV media and print media from China. Moreover, the next plan is they will invite along other journalist from England, India, and USA.

W. Dharmadi, Compose the Three Worker Group

On the middle precarious time of Bali tourism recently, many steps and solution are token. Such as executed by General Manager Inna Putri Bali, Nusa Dua, W. Dharmadi, S.Sos, MBA, MM, which is compose ‘Three Worker Group’. The first is Marketing Group, second is Efficiency Group, and the third is Creditor Group. The duty of first group is how to distribute the available product to income some money. “For example, if there is a guest who wants to buy a vase in the hotel, we will sold it for them,” he said.
There is no alternative step to market something in this hotel that consist of 384 rooms and 553 employees. It means, said this man who come from Denpasar, that they cannot focus into one market, for this case, only focus on foreign tourist. “The evidence is that recently we are helped by domestic market,” he truly said.
He confesses also that during this time, Bali tourism is more prepared to serve the overseas people. So, do not feel surprised of the behavior for underestimating the domestic tourist potency. “It must been changed,” he expressed. To change that, he continued, it would not so difficult. Then, the hotel employee directly changes their course. They start using the domestic behavior pattern, starts from food until the room structuring. “If they need some bucket or even bailer, we will serve it. And actually, some of them request for that facility,” he said.
Latter on, he confesses always realistic in following for tourism promotion with his staff to foreign countries like Berlin, London, and etc. “To chase after domestic tourist, especially on school holiday, we are ready to wait at Gilimanuk Harbor (Western Bali),” he said while asserted, despite of more focus to domestic market, the foreign market is not left behind. In fact, there are some tourists from Europe or Australia, and mostly from Taiwan.
Recount with Efficiency group, Dharmadi always remind his workers, especially in utilizing the hotel equipments, electricity, telephone, and other tools. “We economize the utilizing. And I am sure the other mates will do such of this steps,” he said again.
And the third is Creditor group. With his attractive smile, this man confesses the team is most like ‘debt collector’. The reason is quite simple. The credit/debt should be demanded before the pressed company gets bankrupt. “Clearly, do not runs the process with any of hurt feeling from both sides. However, this partner relationship should well maintain even on difficult condition,” he wishes.
The important thing that always stressed to the three groups is that they run for a glorious job. At least 2.000 people’s life (employee plus their family member) depends on their work performance.
Even pressed with critical situation, Dharmadi sure that Bali tourism will recover soon. The reason is simple; Bali has something that not acquired by other destination. Merely, to conserve Bali, he expects that the entire side must unite for their vision and mission in order to transform the goal. (BTN/006)
