Exhibition
at Kuta Paradiso Hotel
KUTA
- The painting exhibition with works
by Lokha Dana and Made Westra was
held at lobby hotel of Kuta Paradiso.
Lokha Dana who was born in Pekutatan,
Negara, 32 years ago, starting his
career at STSI (Indonesian Arts Institute)
Denpasar, participating in some exhibitions
in and outside Bali. He expresses
his work by implementing the beautiful,
spectacular, and religious Bali with
its nature and culture. Bali
in Custom Ceremony is one of
his works, which is the image of Bali
culture was purely seen and replicated
his feelings of proud. His abstract
expressionism does not describe any
one particular style, but rather than
a general attitude, not all the work
was abstract, nor was it all expressive.
Another artist, Made Westra loves
very much the Bali panoramic views
and its ritual ceremonies. In his
paintings, he tries to emphasize what
people have done to the environment,
Bali universe specifically. Born in
Tabanan, Made Westra finished his
study at Udayana University the faculty
of Design and Fine Arts, and has many
experiences in joining the exhibition
in Bali regularly at Bali Arts Festival,
and some overseas like in Japan and
Australia. Most of his paintings are
individuality and spontaneous improvisation.
These artists all had in common a
tendency to morally loaded themes,
often heavyweight and tragic, on a
grand scale. Kuta Paradiso Hotel is
hosting their exhibition from 9 July
until 16 July 2003. (BTN/*)
