Raising the Youth’s Spirit

Tabanan Regency Administration performs several competitions that inserting the government institution, students, and public of Tabanan as the participants. It’s different previously, this year anniversary celebration of 17 August 2003 will merrier that before. “This thing is caused, lately the vibration of public struggle spirit especially the youth is getting descend. So, through the independence anniversary moment, the youth is expected to get up and fill the independence,” said Tabanan Regent, Adi Wiryatama to the press last Monday (21/7).

It explains there are several kinds of competition just as last year. Newly competition is marathon 10 K Tabanan that named ‘Tanky’. Tanky will take place on 10 Agustus 2003 with the surrounding route of Tabanan City. “The route is quite ruthless because of steep grade and slope. The aim of this competition in order that the people are able to recognize their environment directly,” he clarified.
The ‘Tanky’ contestant targeted about 4.500 of runners. They come from 10 sub districts that each of the districts sends about 150 runners. Then, the Junior High School and Senior High School from 29 schools in Tabanan send 75 of its students. The government’s employee also prepared 20 runners from 36 institutions. Other contestants about 105 runners are from village youth in Tabanan City.
The registration had opened at Social Department office of Tabanan Regency. The contestant will receive a T-Shirt and without any payment registration. The committee will announce the first and second winner for male and female. They also receive a money prize of Rp. 2.000.000 (1st champion) and Rp. 1.000.000 (2nd champion), certificate, trophy and other prizes.
A different competition that will carried out are: on 1 August 2003 is poco-poco gymnastic, aerobic, and jogging, while on 5 August the competition of “megala-gala” and “Madagongan” will execute at Dangin Carik Park, Tabanan. On 8 August will execute the couple-grouped race competition, balloon-couple race competition, eel catching competition for ladies, and carrying a thing on head while biking for man. On 13 August, will held an official competition of reading contest of Undang-Undang Dasar 1945 and Prasetya Korpri.
On the afternoon of 16 August there will be a decorated car parade that followed by government administration office and district office of entire Tabanan. It is different with the previous years. The decorated manner of the cars should be using the fruits and plants, the papers decoration is not allowed. “This is to show the characteristic of Tabanan as the agricultural area that produce plenty of fruits and vegetables,” said the Regent.
On the night of 16 August, an assessment will execute to the shops in Tabanan. For that, the shop owner expected to paint their shops in order that the shop will fresh and attractive. On that night also will perform sorts of public entertainments such as Joged dance, puppetry show, Bondres and opera show. “This year celebration will take place at Maria Art Building and the Office of Tabanan Regent,” said Adi Wiryatama ending for his press conference. There is also the Perbankan (BMPD) Bali, Pertamina (State-owned Oil Company) of Denpasar branch, Denpasar City Administration, and Badung Regency Administration. “During the exhibition, there will be of public entertainment in each night, such as dances, Arja dance-drama, Bondres, Wayang kulit (Puppet Leather Performance), Sendratari dance-drama and others,” he explained.
