Amrozi found guilty and given a death sentence
by panel judges on, 7 August last week.
In the 223 pages verdict, the judges
stated that Amrozi was part of Bali blast
plot, acted as one of the planners. He bought

their joy when the judge panel led by Made
Karna, S.H. stated that Amrozi was given

also welcomed the death sentence with a
smile and putting thumb up as if he was
not afraid of death.
Some Australian relatives of bomb victims
attended the verdict, and they were happy

We are happy, but we will be very

I will not be happy if I do not see
him executed, she said.
A few days ago, Amrozi gave authority to
his lawyer to lodge an appeal, which means

Paddys
Pub & Bar Opening Again
Less
than a year since the terrorist bomb destroyed
it, on August, 2nd 2003 Paddys Café
opened again at a new location. It needed
about 8 months to renovate the new building
and other preparations. On the auspicious
day of Tumpek Uye day (Saturday,
2/8), the soft opening dominated with a
Hindus ritual ceremonial was executed. The
presented figures were Kuta Sub District
Head, village chief, Bandesa Adat, and local
teruna-teruni (youth generation).
We designed this event as simple as
it formed, however from 600 seats that available,
there are about 700 guests that come to
that ceremony. We were forced to increase
the seats, said I Gede Wiratha the
owner of Paddys Pub & Bar to Bali
Travel News.
That day was for soft opening without any
promotion, only for invitation with Balinese
Hindus traditional costume. We will
execute the Grand Opening on 12 October
precisely of a year commemoration of Kuta
Tragedy, Wiratha explained.
Paddys name has changed and is now
Paddys Pub & Bar. The Grand Opening
preparation was postponed because of the
bomb-blast in JW Marriot Hotel, Jakarta,
on Tuesday (5/8). Wiratha asking for a favor
to the press and Balinese people to make
the event a success. The Grand Opening was
presented by the Minister of Culture and
Tourism, Bali Governor, The Chief of Bali
Provincial Police, Badung Regent, and other
VIP invitation from domestic and foreign
countries.
Paddys Pub & Bar stands on 430
M2 land, twice the width as before the bomb-blast
tragedy. The location is also shifting 200
meters to the south. The physical appearance
of the building is very open and based on
the rule and system of Balinese traditional
construction that is Asta Kosala Kosali
with Tri Hita Karana principle.
The purpose of the open construction is
to make the room brighter, so the people/visitor
who go in and out or any suspicious thing
will clearly be clearly visible. A TV monitor
will available in each room corner, so the
guests can enjoy any political development,
sports, culture and other news. The security
system is also closely guarded. There are
a minimum of two security doors for the
guests who visit Paddys. First, a
security guard welcomes the entering guest
with a check by detector with radius of
100 meters. Second is the sealed security
with a body language system. This security
system is dedicated for any kind of suspicious
guest. For this security system, Paddys
is helped by intelligence agent. They supervise
each walker, biker, car, and driver across
the street.
The same as in the main club, the tight
security is also valid for the restroom/toilet.
Besides that, the carrying stuff such as
bag, camera, etc, left on the table by the
owner will be secured immediately by the
special security. This special security
is also useful for guests suspicious of
taking or selling drugs. Bali is prohibited
of drugs, said Wiratha. .
However, due to Gede, the basic reason on
his side to open Paddys again is to
fulfill the tourism expectations while having
a vacation in Kuta and Bali generally. During
the period, economically the society has
been as though dying since the Kuta tragedy,
he said while asserted, he wants to serve
a chance for the employee to get to work
again. For the last 10 months, they
have no activities, so I will not owe to
them by spending Rp. 450.000 until Rp. 1.000.000
per month for the employees.
About 98 % of the former employees get to
work again in Paddys. Gede wishes
to employ his entire work force, however
2% from whole employees have a serious health
problem, such as deafness and burn wounds.
Until now, Paddys has been guarded
by 12-security officer and the management
has added a further 10 personnel until December
2003. They effectively work from 6 pm until
3 am in the morning. Since Paddys
opened, the visitor have started increasing
regularly. The first day after the soft
opening, there were 300 visitors, and this
increasingly became 500, and then 550 visitors
on the next day. After the terrorist
bomb that shook Jakarta, the guests have
been declining steadily, he said peevishly.
