The
Nusa Dua Concept for Tourism Development
Nusa
Dua is much connected with BTDC (Bali Tourism
Development Center). Few people realize
that Nusa Dua, Balis premier luxury
resort complex, is the result of an innovative
idea first applied in Indonesia, which is
the development and management of a resort
complex by one supervisory body. This makes
the building procedure simpler and more
cost effective and it is easier to
carry out policies protecting the local
culture and environment, to enforce standards
of quality, and to ensure a coherent design
concept.
The
successes achieved by Nusa Dua are hanging
under the BTDCs supervision of creating
the Nusa Dua as the garden of Bali which
is absorb numerous tourists during years.

concern of Nusa Duas improvement,
which classified into few concepts that
might inform about well tourism swelling.
The success of Nusa Dua, under the supervision
of BTDC, has made it a template for similar
projects around Indonesia under what has
become known as Nusa Dua concept, there
are:
- A self-contained resort complex on under-populated
and under-productive land. Agricultural
land and centers of local culture are protected
from disruption while disadvantages areas
benefit form development.
- Collaboration between the public and private
sector. Investors and hotel operators deal
with one regulator body instead of many,
thereby greatly reducing time and costs.
- Infrastructures developed for the benefit
of the local population as well as the resort.
The planning of roads, electricity, water,
telecommunications, and waste treatment
plants is integrated into the overall development
of the local population.
- Job training and opportunity for the local
population. Social harmony being a requisite
for a successful tourism destination, the
project establishes training schools with
priority admissions to local students.
- Respect for local customs and religious
practices. Sacred sites are protected and
local access is assured.
- An integrated design concept reflecting
the local cultures traditional architecture
and incorporating local craft products wherever
it is appropriate. This ensure aesthetic
authenticity and harmony, and reinforces
the pride of local people in their culture.
With elite travelers demanding greater sensitivity
to social and environmental issues, these
principles reflect the concerns of both
the host country and the targeted market.
Those concepts are well applied and success
to absorb many investors. Thus, several

are Amanusa, Bali Hilton International,
