Green
Seaweed
Biologically,
seaweed belongs to the family of algae.
Indonesia as a country with most of its
area covered in water and hence is home
to many kinds of seaweed. The Indonesian
Institute of Science has identified nearly
sixty kinds of seaweed that can be consumed.
Actually they are already familiar to coastal
villagers. Villagers already utilize seaweed
for cakes through some simple process and
various delicious dishes. In larger scale
of enterprise seaweed becomes a prospective
commodity that already enters export market
for long time.
As a tester you can taste one kind of the
green string-like seaweed. It is commonly
available in both traditional and supermarket
here in Bali.
Ingredients:
- 400g seaweed
- 1 small chili
- 1 slice galanga
- 50g grated coconut
- ¼ tsp. shrimp paste
- 1 slice lime
- ½ tsp. salt
Method:

Rinse seaweed finely and boil until well
cooked.
- Pond
all spices by using a mortar and pestle.
Afterwards add with grated coconut.
- Mix
well the boiled seaweed with spices above
and squeeze lemon juice on to the batter.
- It

Mangosteen
Mangosteen
is a native fruit to tropical Asia. In Bali
the mangosteen has spread out throughout
the island and it is easy to find this kind
of fruit in the market when it is in season.
Nowadays there is new option of hybrid mangosteen
where farmers do not need to wait for so
long to bear fruit.
Its fruit has some regular segments. Flesh
segments inside figures is in accordance
with the flower-like segments outside on
the bottom. White flesh is extremely sweet.
Nearly every segment has a soft seed inside.
The soft seed here means it is edible. It
is a breed plant that is already well cultivated
