Anyar Sari Market, the Fresh Fruit Storagesambian Kaja, West Denpasar is always crowed with consumer. The traders are mostly from Tabanan, Jembrana, Badung, Karangasem, and Denpasar, but some also from outside Bali such as Java and Lombok. The consumers are mostly of wholesaler who will distribute the product to other markets. The merchants of Anyar Sari Market are not sells their product in retail.
It is easy to find this market’s location, which is about 500 meter to the west from main road of Java – Bali, around Ubung Sari area. Ojek (motorcycle transportation) will available there.
According to Uma Anyar market chief, I Wayan Rasmin, the costumers who come with their own vehicles charged with parking fee of Rp 300 for motorcycle, and Rp1.000 - Rp 1.500 for car. Whereas for the merchants with their truck or pick up car charged with Rp 20.000 - Rp 25.000,- per car, depends to car’s size.
Fruits and agriculture commodity in Anyar Sari market usually delivered at night. It is easy to find fruits such as orange, papaya, watermelon, melon, pineapple, and banana. Lumajang Orange of East Java sold Rp 3.000/Kg. “This price sold in one large basket weight of 25 – 30 Kg,” Paino said, orange merchant from Java.
Papaya from Banyuwangi, East Java is different in price. It sells in retail or wholesale. The price on average is Rp 900/Kg of retail price, minimum of 20 Kg. Retail price depends on its size about Rp 4.000 - Rp 5.000/fruit.
Melon from Malang, East Java, sold in plenty number in this market. It has two colors type, which is pink and yellow. Yellow melon is cheaper than the pink melon. The pink melon sold Rp 3.500/Kg and yellow melon Rp 2.500/Kg. For small melon, its sell Rp 4.000,- until Rp 5.000/buah in retail price.
Watermelon also has two type of colors of red and yellow with different in price as well. Red watermelon sells for Rp 1.500/Kg, and the yellow ones sells for Rp 2.500/Kg.
Blitar Pineapple of East Java costs of Rp 1.000 per fruit. Whereas banana from Jember, East Java, has several of type with distinguish price. Its price also depends to the situation and condition in Bali, whereas it getting expensive if there is a Hindus “rerahinan” (Holy Day) such as Purnama, Tilem, Tumpek, also of Galungan and Kuningan, and sometimes difficult to get because exhausted by people.
The merchant in Anyar Sari Market rents a space made from wood or plywood measured of 3 X 4 Meter, Rp 4.000.000 - Rp 5.000.000/year, whereas of walled and concrete layered usually rented for Rp 12.000.000 - Rp 15.000.000/year.
Anyar Sari Market of 4 hectares wide also provide with several Hindus ritual ceremony equipments and tools, such as “banten/jejahitan” (offering), young coconut, canang ceper, flower, and ceremonial tools. The merchant sells their stuffs in the shop and on the car. Merchant with car usually exist since 5 am in the morning until 11 pm in the afternoon, and especially for the fruit seller that available 24 hours. (BTN/015)
