Experience Behind the
Taste
Wine
is a favorite companion for those who are
just having dinner, whether white or red
wine. But when someone is drinking glass
of delicious wine he may rarely think about
how this wine is made. Make a difference
that you do not belong to this person. Now
there is a new choice of tours especially
for the wine lover. A winery that is located
at Suwung Kawuh, on the west of Benoa intersection.
An office marked with large wine bottle
icon and golden wording on the wall. Come
and have sightseeing at a winery place.
Ask a question and get free tasting. Thats
a simple expression as a welcome from Mr.
Wahyudi from Wine of the Gods.
You will not find vineyard or any grape
bunches here since its vineyard is located
in Western Australia. Half process, namely
juicing is already completed in Australia.
The next process, such as fermentation and
bottling only are done here in the winery
in Bali.
To know more closely how these international
quality wines are made, make your time to
drop in at the winery. One of the staff
is delighted to organize the tour to look
around the fermentation tanks. Here the
visitors will be guided to look around the
workshop. Guide will explain the process
at this fermentation patiently.
Grape juice is fermented in three large
tanks with the full capacity of 2500 liters
each. It will take about one month for the
process of fermentation and the temperature
inside that tank should be kept at minus
10º Celsius. A machine called brine
temperature machine is used to control this
condition. The next step is filtering the
fermented wines in separate smaller tank
before bottling. The last step is filtering.
It needs at least a week to complete the
process. Having finished the tour you will
be offered a wine tasting session. Finally
you will get comprehensive wine experience,
something new behind the taste.
Production of wine here is done once
a year at the initial stage. In the future
the capacity will be increased depending
on the demand of the market, said
Mr. Komang Arimbawa, Sales and Marketing
Manager of the Wine of the Gods. When the
tour is ready there will be a sign that
says open in front of the office. So its
the right time for visitors enjoying this
experience by adding these winery tours.
Most guests who are interested to visit
this winery are Australian, Japanese and
German. (BTN/029)
Sapodilla
Sapodilla
(Sapota zaspotilla) or sabo in Balinese
language. The flesh of the fruit is light
brown. It is very sweet when already ripe
well. Since then, there will be many fruit
bats coming to taste the fruit. At the same
time some people take this opportunity to
set up a net to trap them. Some consider
that meat of fruit bat is source of delicious
dish.
Sapodilla is very popular among the Balinese
as it grows well nearly all over the island.
Such a fruit can be said a domestic fruit
as it is generally planted at home yard
for shelter. People prefer to graft for
its cultivation. Plant by grafting can bear
fruit faster than that of by the original
seeds.
Do not try to eat this fruit before ripe
enough as it contains tannin and milky latex.
And please also be noted that do not eat
too much although you feel it does not matter.
It may cause light sore throat or feel uneasy.
