in Bajra Sandhi Monument
The
Balinese Symbol of Struggle, the Monument
known as Bajra Sandhi (its shape
is much like a bajra = bell)
was completed with a Balinese historical
journey. The monument was unveiled by the
President of Indonesian Republic Megawati
Soekarnoputri at the same time as the Bali
Arts Festival Opening, Saturday (14/6).
About 33 dioramas illustrated the journey
and struggle of the Balinese. The diorama
began from pre-historical age; Bali in perundagian
age (Balinese traditional architect); stupa
and Sukawana epigraphy; Resi Markandia (8th
Century); Sri Kesari Warmadewa (914); Gunapriya
Darmapatni and her husband Dharmodayana
Warmadewa (989-1011); Kahyangan Tiga Concept
of Empu Kuturan (11th Century); the life
of Banjar (11th Century); Subak system (9th
Century); Sri Asta Sura Ratna Bumi Banten
(1338); coronation of Sri Kresna Kepakisan
(1347-1350); the instruction of Pura Dasar
Gelgel (abad 14); Dalem Watu Renggong (1460-1550);
Danghyang Nirartha (1489); The Glorious
of Hindus Kings in Bali (17th 19th
Century); Patih Agung I Gusti Ketut Djelantik
who tear the letter from Governor General
of Dutch Colonialist (1846); Jagarana war
(1849); the War of Kusamba Klungkung (the
death of General Michiels, 1849); the struggle
of Banjar citizen (1868); Puputan Badung
(20 September 1906); the preparation of
Agung Wah against the Dutch (1906); Puputan
Klungkung (1908); Youth organzation development
in Bali (1923 1928); Bali under the
Japanese Colonialist (1942-1945); Indonesian
Proclamation spreading (1945); Indonesian
Youth Commando Center (14 April 1946); Flag
incident at Buleleng Harbor (27 Oktober
1946); Sea battle at Bali strait (1946);
Public attack of Nica military area at Denpasar
(1946); the forming of Struggle Legislative

diorama; Bali enjoys Indonesian Independence.
The Chief of Balinese Struggle Monument
Bajra Sandhi, A.A. Ngurah Netra
said to Bali Travel News said, the purpose
of this monument construction is to rise
the soul and spirit of the Balinese struggle,
as well as digging, defending, developing
and conserving Balis culture. By then,
the next generation will have the historical
knowledge to step forward exploring the
world that contain of obstacle and challenge.
Meanwhile, the monument expert Drs. Wayan
Wirya asserted, the Bajra Sandhi was expected
to become part of Balis tourism treasury,
especially for the school and college students.
