Jembrana,

Perancak
Paninsula
The
village of Perancak lies above the peninsula
of Perancak, 19 kilometers east of Negara,
and is the capital of the Jembrana regency.
For those visiting Jembrana by bus from
Denpasar, please take a little time to visit
the traditional market in the village of
Tegalcangkring , then turn left at the cross
road near the market. After driving 9 kilometers,
you will reach the village of Perancak
The
first attraction is the recreational park
of Perancak where you will see a mini zoo!
The main temple in the region is called
Pura Gede Purancak also located in the village.
Overlooking the temple is the river of Perancak,
a water-sport centre for local people. Here,
every year, a sampan race is held in conjunction
with commemorating Independence Day in August.
Near the temple, there is a sacred well
called Sumur Bajo. On the outskirts of the
peninsula, local fishermen park their artistic
and colorful traditional boats locally known
as perahu. A traditional thanksgiving
ceremony is held by the fishermen called
Petik Laut, also held above
the Tanjung Tangis peninsula (the cape of
cry). The ceremony is held on Purnama Karo
(the second full moon) around August every
year. The Balinese gamelan and dance often
accompanies the ceremony. A nice sunset
and panoramic view of East Java can be viewed
from the peninsula.
What else? Well, on the other side of Perancak
village is the beach of Perancak. The turtle
sanctuary, which has been supported by World
Wildlife Fund (WWF) since 1997, lies on
Perancak Beach. Tourists may visit the area
to watch the life of turtles, especially
the new born. During the day, tourists can
relax on the beach, and at night, watch
the birth of turtles within the sanctuary.
Visitors can book into the home-stay in
the village to view the local landscape,
culture and atmosphere. Have a nice visit
and night in Perancak West Bali.
