Indonesia Extends Loan to Small-Scale Enterprises
Garuda
Indonesia regional office at Denpasar resumed
its commitment to extend soft loans at very
low rate to small-scale entrepreneurs in
Bali. For the period of 1999-2003, Garuda
has extended loans to the amount of 900
millions rupiahs, stated by GM General Affairs
and SBS of PT Garuda Indonesia, Indaryanto,
on the occasion of handing over the loan
to 9 entrepreneurs in Bali last Friday (27/2).
Garuda provides loans every year in large
amounts in accordance with the proposal
put forward. During the year of 1999-2003,
we have extended the loan to 41 entrepreneurs,
Indaryanto said.
The distribution of loans in 2003 was fairly
late due to the lack of proposals received
by Garuda. The number of founding
partners of Garuda usually reaches 20-30
entrepreneurs, but for the year 2003 it
merely reached 9 entrepreneurs, Indaryanto
added.
The former Finance Manager of Garuda Indonesia
in London added that the consideration toward
the proposal of loans was strictly selected
as occasionally there was a fictive proposal.
The loan distribution composes the implementation
of governmental policy to oblige the state-owned
companies (BUMN) to fund small-scale enterprises.
