General Election Peaceful,Tourism Businessmen Relieved

The general election on 5 April that
previously was predicted to be chaotic, in fact flourished peacefully.
A fluent and peaceful process of the general election made tourism
businessmen relieved.

According to the observation by Bali Travel News, the flourishing and peaceful signs of the general election has been shown by the peaceful process of the campaign. “We express our gratitude to the political elites, security forces and the entire people of Bali that have joined together for making the peaceful election successful,” Gusde Astawa, the General Manager of Legian Paradiso said.
Positive response on the peaceful general election was also expressed by a number of businessmen and authorities. The Chairman of Bali Tourist Office, Drs. Gde Nurjaya, MM was also relieved, as the general election has flourished peacefully.
The Mayor of Denpasar Puspayoga, for instance, intentionally thanked his city dwellers through public service advertisement on the radio in the municipality of Denpasar. “It is the most peaceful general election we ever had. We are proud of it. Thanks to all people. Keep the city peaceful continuously,” Puspayoga said sympathetically. The thanksgiving message was replayed again and again on the radio recently.
Tourists visiting Bali from the end of March to the beginning of April was sufficiently stable. The public worries that violent disturbances would explode and the visit of foreign tourists to Bali would drop, in actuality was not proven. The data from Immigration Office at Ngurah Rai Airport showed that the number of foreign tourist’s visit on the day of general election (3/4) reached 5000. This figure was considered to be special, since April was low season in tourism. Seeing this figure, the tourism businessmen of Bali are optimistic in entering the holiday season in the mid of this year, the number of visitors would keep on increasing. This optimism sank, particularly when terrorist’s attacked Bali in October 2002.
Tourism businessmen in Bali persistently expected that if the security of Bali can be maintained business will recover soon, consequently there would be more opportunities for workers who have undergone severances of working relationships. The people of Bali hope that the elected politicians will be able to struggle for the public fate in the parliament. (BTN/DP)
