Kuta
Carnival II put the theme THK, or Tri Hita
Karana that is a teaching of life’s
harmony among fellow humans and its surrounding
nature was held at Kuta Beach for the second
time. Kuta Carnival II took place on 24
September – 4 October and was opened
by Ir. Wibowo, Deputy Minister for Culture
and Tourism marked off with gong hit and
continued by releasing 50 turtle hatchlings
to show environmental care and 50 doves
as a symbol of peace.
 The
opening ceremony was commenced by presenting
Balinese Dances from the Kuta Kumara Agung
Dance Studio and then continued with the
presentation of Barong Sai by a Chinese-descent
resident in Kuta. On his opening speech,
Ir. Wibowo said that he highly supported
the staging of the Kuta Carnival, expecting
that the event would not only become a local
event of Bali but also a national event.
Previously, the Chairman of the Organizing
Committee, Supatra Karang, reported that
the Kuta Carnival is a tourism event so
it will generate an harmonious togetherness.
“Kuta Carnival extends fresh entertainment
to the Balinese people and tourists. Through
this event we expect that it will increase
visitors numbers to the Island,” he
explained.
The Karnival event was performed at tourist
destinations, starting from Kuta to Legian
Beach by presenting 65 kinds of different

The Karnival event was performed at tourist

performances. In addition, there was also
some other sporting competitions like surfing,
skateboarding, a parade of antique motorcycles,
fashion show, international food festival,
presentation of varied schools of music,
modern and traditional dances. Other activities
was a Surf Memorabilia exhibition and photo
exhibition on environmental issues and the
best painting organized by The Discovery
Kartika Plaza Hotel.
And interestingly, it also held an Xtreme
Games namely a surf competition at Kuta
and Uluwatu Beaches. Sport lovers also participated
in games, beach volley, football, bodybuilding,
