Environmental
Program of Buleleng Regency
The
Office of the Deputy Ministry of Environment
for Bali-Nusra Region in cooperation with
the Municipal Evaluation Council (DEK) of
Denpasar initiated a program on Environmental
Care (Bangun Praja). This program will be
held at each city and regency throughout
Bali.
In Buleleng Regency, Bangun Praja Team demonstrated
the result of their first monitoring on
physical and non-physical conditions of
the regency. Physical conditions monitored
were settlement, city infrastructure (main
and collector roads), market, shopping complex,
office complex, school, bus station, open
waters, hospital, and city park and cleanliness
devices.
The monitoring showed physical conditions
of some locations in Buleleng needed restoring
like markets, rivers, shopping complex and
peddlers organizations. Apart from
describing the portrait of environment of
Singaraja city entirely, the team also showed
some photos as supporting components of
the monitored locations. Therefore, the
data submitted would be really objective
for people.
According to the team coordinator in Buleleng,
Dewa Surya, environmental issues, chiefly
rubbish, did not only happen in Buleleng,
other cities also experienced the same problems.
But, it only required rubbish bins so rubbish
could be thrown into it. In addition, peoples
awareness was highly expected in order that
they did not discard rubbish carelessly.
Chief of Cipta Karya Services of Buleleng
Regency, Ir. I.B. Suarjana has tried to
make an effort to improve the locations
before the end of 2004. By doing so,
Buleleng could achieve the Adipura trophy
or at least its certificate that stated
the city is clean, green and convenient,
he said while adding as an institution that
is responsible for city parks and cleanliness,
his party applied KKN formula (Commitment,
Cooperation and Networking).
In the meantime, head of Buleleng sub-district,
I.B. Suadnyana stated that the condition
could be overcome provided that there was
good interrelated coordination among institutions.
For the time being, coordination does
not work well, so the result is like that,
he said.
To the team, Suadnyana urged in order that
Bangun Praja program was publicized through
mass media so all people become aware to
maintain their environment. As territorial
chief of Buleleng sub-district, I just knew
of this program two months ago. How do we
drive people if we do not know the program,?
he said rhetorically.
