Balinese
people call this fruit kedondong (Spondias
dulcis). It tastes very sour when its
young and the flesh is crunchy, its shape
resembles that of a mango. Its commonly
used for ingredients of rujak (assorted
fruit in sweet-sour sauce). While some people
take it advantage of it for the cepala or
component of oblation, particularly in the
rite for rice at the pre-harvest time, when
the rice is turning yellow and rites in
the rice granary after harvesting.
Kedondong or otaheite apple, beside for
rujak, its sometimes used to make
fruity candy, fruit slices added with salt
and refined sugar. By doing so, it can last
longer.
By new developments in the agricultural
field, people these days can cultivate practical
new hybrids, so people can plant it in pots
in the garden. This new one can bear fruit
at a height of less than one meter.

Appealing Sun Cake
The
contents of offerings presented at religious
ceremonies comprises of some elements like
leafs, flowers, fruit and cake. One of the
cakes that is commonly used for fillers
for offerings is jajan matahari, or sun
cake. Its shape is round with a cross sign
inside and many dents on each side.
The cake is made of rice flour, wheat flour,
coconut milk, refined sugar salt and water.
Make a batter of the ingredients, soak the
mould into the batter, take out and put
into the preheated deep-frying oil. Shake
the mould for a while to make the batter
release. Wait a moment until its well
