of THK Tourism Awards 2004
Concepts of Tri Hita Karana Will Be Adopted
by WTO
Fifteen
hotels and three tourism objects from all
over Bali won Tri Hita Karana (THK) Tourism
Awards 2004. They succeeded in eliminating
72 hotels that participated in the 2004
selection. Presentation of THK Tourism Awards
that was held Jaya Sabha Hall, Denpasar
on Wednesday (22/12) for the fifth time.
The
event of this year could be said special
attended by tourism industry circles chiefly
hotel GMs and officials of Bali Province,
also present was the Minister of Culture
and Tourism, Jero Wacik and Regional Representative
of World Tourism Organization (WTO) for
East Asia and Pacific, Mr. Xu Jing. The
presence of Mr. Jing coincidently constituted
inauguration of THK Tourism Awards that
is to be promoted to international forum.
According to the Chairman of the Organizing
Committee of THK Tourism Awards, B. Ashrama,
the assessment was focused on three aspects
namely parhyangan, pawongan and palemahan.
Presentation of this year is somewhat
special as all trophies prepared have been
entirely achieved. Even two hotels accomplished
to win the emerald category because they
achieved gold trophies three times in succession,
he said.
Minister Jero Wacik said the appointment
of THK inspired by Hindu religion was an
award to the great cultural heritage of
Balinese predecessors. Moreover, the assessment
board consists of credible people.
He certainly believed by implementing THK
concepts, Bali would be progressively well
received. Since tourism has become the backbone
of the Balinese community this will promote
an harmonious life in accordance with the
essence of THK concepts ie, desired harmony
between fellows humans, harmony with the
surrounding physical environment and harmony
with their God (spiritual).
Those that achieved THK Tourism Awards in
2004 for the emerald category were respectively
Griya Santrian Hotel and Melia Bali Villas
& Spa Resort. Boutique resort category
was achieved by The Ritz-Carlton Bali Resort
& Spa (gold), Alam Kulkul Boutique Resort
(silver) and Ibah Luxury (bronze); five-star
and five plus by Melia Bali Villas &
Spa Resort (gold), Nusa Dua Beach Hotel
& Spa (silver) and Nikko Bali Hotel
Resort & Spa (bronze).
Meanwhile, the four-star hotel category
was achieved by Alila Ubud (gold), Novotel
Coralia Benoa Bali (silver), Alila Manggis
Karangasem (bronze). Then, for 1, 2 and
3-star hotels by Griya Santrian (gold),
Besakih Beach Resort (silver) and Hotel
Tanjung Sari (bronze). Jasmine category
by Cempaka Belimbing Villas Tabanan (gold),
Bali Taman Resort Buleleng (silver) and
Puri Bagus Candidasa (bronze). Last but
not least was the tourism object category
in which a gold trophy was achieved by Sangeh,
silver by Levi Rafting Tukad Melangit and
bronze by Museum Bali. The presentation
of the THK Tourism Awards 2004 at the end
of 2004 was also concurrently the celebration
summit of the anniversary of Bali Travel
News. At noon on the same day an International
Talk show on Tourism presented by the Chief
of Cultural and Tourism Research Unud, Dr.
A.A. Suryawan Wiranatha and the Regional
Representative of WTO for East Asia and
Pacific, Mr. Xu Jing. (BTN/*)
