wide Chairmen of Tourism Authorities Agree
to Co-promote
Chairmen
from Tourism Authorities around Bali have
agreed to perform coordination and joint
promotions in 2005 revealed in a restricted
discussion and evaluation by the Bali Tourist
Authority moderated by its chairman, I Gede
Nurjaya on Wednesday (12/1).
According to Nurjaya, based on a tourist
survey and evaluation in 2004, at least
5 main agendas that needed improving and
maintaining to make Bali tourism persistently
survive. Those five agendas are maintaining
security and convenience at tourist objects,
others were cleanliness, physical environment,
joint promotion and synergy with the tourism
industry. These five packages should
be carried out simultaneously, he
said while emphasizing, if there is
just a little disturbance in Bali, its echoes
spread out all over the world.
Some cases that are often highlighted by
tourists in 2004, were for instance, fisticuffs
among youngsters in hamlets, aviary influenza
epidemics, poisoned food and student demonstrations
that jam traffic. These cases were
highlighted by tourists, he said.
Road
Show
As a joint promotion, it was planned as
soon as possible to hold road shows to countries
that give contributions to Bali such as
Japan, Germany, England and Australia. In
addition, it also prepared a promotion to
Thailand, China and Malaysia. Meanwhile,
domestic promotion was more put as a priority
on Jakarta and its surrounding through national
tourism events like Gebyar Jakarta, Krakatau
Festival, Majapahit Travel Mart and so forth.
Internal improvements, will activate a cleanliness
program of bathing, washing and toilet facilities
in tourist objects environs. Similarly,
it prepared a logo, motto for Bali tourism,
and the selection of teruna-teruni
(Miss and Mister) Bali. All are intended
in order that Bali has a peculiar characteristic
in the tourism market, he said.
Nurjaya set a target of 1,7 million foreign
tourists who would visit Bali in 2005. This
figure is rational enough, remembering that
visitors from 184 countries would come to
Bali this year. Leading competitors
are Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia,
he added. (BTN/013)
