Coffee
That Breaks The Meeting
Coffee
usually always starts your day in the morning
and accompanies meals or for breaks at a
meeting. Why? Because meetings at all times
are completed with a coffee break
and also accompanied by a tea break
as an alternative. It does not only indulge
the tongue but also relieve the senses.
Coffee has become a favorite drink for most
people around the world, either young or
old. Each region or country have different
and distinctive ways to make it. One may
blend it with milk, chocolate, vanilla,
cinnamon, cloves and so forth.
This delicious drink was first brewed by
the Arabs of Yemen picked from a small evergreen
tree Coffee Arabica. Through the centuries,
it has spread out the world over. The Balinese
also grow it in Pupuan, Wanagiri, Kintamani
and other places. Some Balinese may prefer
less strong coffee, so when roasting they
blend it with white sticky rice.
Coffee in Bali is not only a drink but it
also accompanies an oblation to ancestors.
It can be seen at traditional markets where
Hindu merchants put offerings on a pelangkiran
or offerings on a wooden platform. The coffee
is served in small cups used by the Chinese
to drink wine.
Coffee bean or processed coffee can also
be obtained here in Bali for taking home.
It is available at special gift shops or
supermarkets. This coffee is grown and processed
here or served at a café or restaurant
everywhere on the island and at hotel coffee
shops. (BTN/punia)
