Award from ASEANTA
In the middle of terrorism and tsunami
reports which caused tourism zest to drop,
the pleasant news is about Agung Pranas
success in receiving an award from ASEAN
Tourism Association (ASEANTA) 2005.
This
prestigious award received by Agung Prana,
leader of the Nature Foundation of Terumbu
Karang Northern Bali, for his success in
preserving coral fish in Pemuteran. The
award was recently handed out by the Deputy
Minister of Malaysia, Dato Sri Hj.
Mohd. Najib, at the opening event of ASEAN
Tourism Forum, in Lankawi, Malasya.
We are very pleased with the project
of nature preservation at Pemuteran, Northern
Bali, we feel that this is properly suitable,
considering this project is certainly valuable
for todays life, and our next generation,
said Agung Prana at a press conference at
Prana Spa & Villas Kuta, last week.
According to him, as well as the category
of nature preservation efforts, there are
also the award categories of Best Tourism
Article, Best Tourism Poster, Best Tourism
Packet, Marketing and Promotion Champaign,
Flight Program, Newest Tourist Destination
and Cultural Preservation Effort. Especially
for nature preservation effort, it was assessed
based on ecology heritage for enthusiastic
increases on tourism.
Karang Lestari Pemuteran Northern
Bali is a project group of coral repairing
which is using electricity in improving
the corals growth and prevention of
disturbing the living environment. It also
can fix sea-coral habitats and its natural
beautification. This method is able to increase
the fishing industry in sustaining the water
tourism and economic growth.
Formerly, Karang Lestari also gained the
Sea Tourism Award 2002 from Skal for the
Best Sea Tourism Project in the World award
for public coastal area arrangement based
on KONAS Indonesia and the most prestigious
living environment award in Indonesia, Kalpataru/Adipura.
Whilst Agung Prana, who is also the founder
and project leader of nature preservation,
always officiated as the leader of the Indonesian
Travel Biro Bali Branch and as the nominator
of Sasakawa Living Environment award from
the United Nations (UN), last year. (BTN/015)
