Besakih
Beach Resort, Sanur
Just like Your Own Home
This hotel is immensely
unique. Apart from preserving the Balinese
traditional design Besakih Beach Resort
(BBR) has up till now not been renovated
since it was established in 1974. Located
on Jalan Danau Tamblingan, Sanur, the Resort
previously had 18 rooms. Rapid growth of
tourism development in Sanur made the owner
of BBR add more rooms and facilities to
the hotel presently 79 rooms.
Nevertheless,
BBR is not less competitive with other hotels
in Sanur tourist resort. These 79 rooms,
in fact, have already been furnished with
modern facilities. Seen from the outside,
it still has a Balinese traditional architectural
style, but inside it has been completed
with air conditioning, satellite television
channels and private balcony facilities.
Outside, there are two swimming pools and
two restaurants, Nirwana and Agung Bar Restaurants.
Nirwana restaurant with superb Sanur Beach
views offers fresh seafood menu specialties
besides European and Indonesian cuisines.
While Agung Restaurant, specifically serves
grilled Food and temptingly tasty barbeques.
BBR offers two categories of rooms, namely
standard and suite. Standard rooms are offered
at USD 50 and Suite at USD 100. Its
cheap, isnt it? If you are tired after
enjoying water sports, BBR will present
a Spa Bath to indulge your body. It is not
far from the room and its rate is relatively
inexpensive.
According to Manager of Besakih Beach Resort
Ngurah Putra, his party puts priority on
service to guests who stay in the hotel
he emphasized, in terms of service, his
hotel should be better than other hotels
in Sanur. Guests satisfaction
is our final objective so they really feel
like at their own home, said Ngurah
Putra who has devoted his life at BBR since
1990.
At a glance, BBR looks aged. Realizing this
condition, Ngurah Putra instructed to all
of his staff to make a point of personal
life service as the top priority. Consequently,
such a concept, in fact, was able to attract
more guests, especially repeater guests
and one guest has stayed 20-25 times.
When Bali Travel News made a visit to the
hotel recently, Ngurah showed us a room
that was occupied by a Hollander. The guest
had stayed at Besakih for 8 weeks, while
the hotels occupancy reached 70% with
all guests European. Interestingly, their
visit to Bali was not through travel agents
but a direct call to the hotel. This
month is the low season and other hotels
in Sanur are lacking visitors, said
Ngurah Putra while adding that the concept
of personal life services has resulted in
real benefit.
Prior to the bombing tragedy, regular guests
that stayed at BBR were from Switzerland,
Sweden and Scandinavia. However, he explained
that his current potential market is Australian
and Netherlands visitors, then European
and Asian. Australians still occupies the
top rank (50%), Netherlander (35%) and the
remains 15% (European and Asian). The highest
repeater guest is Australian and Dutch.
Beach
Facilities
Considering BBR is situated on the beachside,
the resort prepares facilities that can
be used for sunbathing or just relaxing
on the white sands of Sanur beach. Facilities
like beach umbrellas, beach yard, cushion,
beach towel are provided at the request
of guests. They want to relax or just lay
down to enjoy beach views or water sport
attraction around the waters of Sanur. For
the latter, he has prepared a motorized
jukung outrigger.
For readers information, BBR is one of the
hotels that won the Tri Hita Karana (THK)
Tourism Awards 2004 achieving a silver trophy
for three starred hotels category. Every
year Bali Travel News holds an annual competition
among eco-oriented hotels in the perspective
of Tri Hita Karana. (BTN/013)
