THK Application at Hotel
(8)
Term
and Doctrine Source of THK
The
term THK (tri hita karana) was actually
triggered around 1966 within the activity
of Badan Perjuangan Umat Hindu Bali (Balinese
Hindus Struggling Board). This board
was later on known as Prajaniti Hindu Indonesia,
which officially established in 1968. Through
this organization, later on Prof. Dr. I
Wayan Mertha Suteja introduced the three
causes of happiness in life, which are Widi
(God), manusa (human), and bhuwana (nature/earth).
Even
though this term newly introduced, the basic
concept of THK had cited within the Holy
Book Bhagawad Gita (III.10), mentioned that
yadnya (sacrifice) is the basic relationship
of God Almighty (Praja Pati), human (praja),
and nature (kamadhuk). THK within this affiliation
can be mentioned as lifes attitude
which balanced between devoted to God, honoring
human being, and preserving natures
welfare based on yadnya. In other word,
human as social being can reach the happiness
within physical and inner life, if they
able to create a harmonic relation with
God, among human being, and nature within
intact unanimity based on yadnya.
Within the seminar about desa adat (custom
traditional village) at Faculty of Law Udayana
University in 1969, I Gusti Ketut Kaler
formulated THK with the formula parhyangan,
pawongan, palemahan. These formulas then
reflected into penyuratan awig-awig (the
writing of custom villages rules)
which contains with three major things,
which are Sukerta Tata Agama, Sukerta Tata
Pawongan lan Sukerta Tata Palemahan (application
of religion doctrine, social life arrangement,
and space division). These three regulations
was directed to support the THK application
concept at the desa adat (traditional village),
which now named as desa pakraman (Bali Travel
News, March 26 April 8, 2004).
So, the THK doctrine resource is Veda and
Susastra (Hindu), such as, Bhagavad Gita
(III: 10) that mentioned before, which keenly
said Saha-yajnah Parajah Srstwa purowaca
Prajatih, anena prasawisyadwam esa wostwsta
kamadhuk (When God creates human based
on yadnya/sacrifice and said, You,
human being, with yadnya you can breed and
the earth becomes your milky cow). The term
milky cow doesnt to legalize
human in exploiting or destruct the nature
just for individual/group needs. Sloka (verse)
of Bhagavad Gita signaled that human is
allowed to cut the tree or slaughtering
the animal based on yadnya (offering/holy
sacrifice).
Explicitly said that even though it sourced
from Hindus doctrine, THK is universally
characterized which basically accurate for
entire society, even for any religions (Ahimsa-Putra,
1999; Arif, 1999; in Windia, 2002). (BTN/B.
