I Wayan Sinti
The Founder of Local and Foreign Artists

This simple man figure is I Wayan Sinti, MA. As an artist, he stores many art achievements, especially for instrumental playing. He actively trains teenagers who want to learn instrumental playing in rural areas in Bali.

His art talent was shown since young age and stuck as his profession. This husband of Cok Istri Nilawati is always active in each annual Bali Arts Festival (BAF) in Denpasar. Daily he works as a teacher in Sekolah Menengah Kerawitan Indonesia (SMKI) Negeri of Denpasar.
As a teacher, he is often trusted to train the art group ‘Sekar Jaya’ in USA. For that, he flew to Uncle Sam’s country in 1985 for five months to teach Balinese music instruments.
In 1996, he back again to USA for ten months. Sinti is also trains this ‘Sekar Jaya’ group while they visit Bali. “Besides training and founding the foreigner, I often visit several towns in Indonesia, whether for staging or to train the artist,” he said to Bali Travel News.
His skill in playing many Balinese dances and traditional instruments causes this master degree alumnus of San Diego State University, California (USA) to often fly abroad. Since 1965 he always was included inside Bali arts teams to Korea, China, Japan, Cambodia, Filipina, Australia, Singapore, Canada, USA, Holland, Belgium, France and Monaco.
The father of 5 children born in Denpasar, 1 January 1943, is also active in digging the classical music art that almost disappear such as gambang, gambuh, slonding, gong luang, saron, semar pegulingan, pelegongan, gong gede, kidung, bleganjur and angklung.
Beside that, he also created several instrumental works and Balinese vocals, such as tabuh Ratna Wijaya (1970), tabuh Walisanti (1976), geguritan Caruk (1978), geguritan Wilet Mayura (1982), geguritan Silih Asih (1983), tabuh Dharma Putri (1983), tabuh Stri Sadhu (1983), tabuh Siwa Natha (1983), Tabuh Kartini (1984), tabuh Sri Tanjung (1988), tabuh kreasi Supraba Duta (1990), tabuh Lelambatan Lokaria (1993), tabuh Gegilak Madu Arsa (1989), geguritan Malat (1993), Sandya Gita Keduhung (1994), gamelan Manikasanti (1994), and gong blaganjur creation.
He efforts have resulted in many achievements such as ‘Sekar Jaya’ Group (USA) and Indonesian President; Habibie (1999), Badung Regent, I Gusti Bagus Alit Putra (1994), General Director of National Education and Culture Department, Prof Dr. Hayati Soebadio (1986), Art Director FX Sutopo Cokraha Mijoyo (1984), Commander IX Udayana, Major General of Indonesian Army R. Adang Ruchiatna. P (1994) and other achievements. “This preservation on Balinese art and culture cause is a never ending attraction for foreigners and local tourists,” said this man from Ubung Kaja, Denpasar.
