Bali Chapter IHRA’s Chairman, Cok Ace
An All-Round Artist

The Chairman of the Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali Chapter, Ir. Tjok Oka Artha Ardhana S, MSi., who is more popularly known as Cok Ace, in fact is an all-round artist. He is not only capable of painting, dancing, playing gamelan and sculpting but also being an architect, especially that of Balinese building style.

As a monarch, Cok Ace has three hotels in Ubud so his colleagues we are not mistaken to appoint the descent of Ubud royal palace the Chairman of PHRI of Bali Chapter for the term 2005-2009. He replaced the position of I Gede Wirata who is now occupying the Chairman of Bali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Bali).
At an interview with a contributor of Bali Travel News in Sanur, Cok Ace explained that he has put great interest on various arts since his childhood. He liked to draw, dance, play gamelan and sculpt on wood. All of these appeared due to influence of his surroundings. Who does not know about Ubud that has been known as the kampong of artists from time immemorial?
Except for the influence of Ubud village, arts in his blood also flow from the environs of Ubud royal palace that has paid attention and developed the Balinese arts and culture. Painter, sculptor and dancer grow amazingly in the vicinity of Ubud royal palace. Even, the palace has Tedung Agung dance studio that is chaired by Cok Ace.
Many students from elementary, secondary and senior high school in Ubud join the dance course at his studio. They practice on Wednesdays and Sundays and in the evening they frequently cheer up visitors at the stage of the palace.
Personally, Cok Ace is good at presenting mask and rangda dance on Calonarang dance drama. Similarly, he can sculpt various kinds of wooden mask like that for mask, barong and rangda dance.
As Chairman of PHRI Bali Chapter, Cok Ace is proud of Tri Hita Karana (THK) awards presentation to hotels in Bali. “I’m glad because through this THK Awards the hotel will improve service in a better way to their customers. The more pleasant thing is that the hotels are willing to become foster parent and refurbish the supporting facilities of the tourist object in Bali,” he said while adding that elegant and convenient tourist object will become a distinctive point of interest for travelers to come and see. Kadek Suraputera Director of Engineering

Jamal Hussein, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Bali is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kadek Suraputera as Director of Engineering. A graduate from the Udayana University Bali majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Kadek’s career in the hospitality industry includes experiences at several well-known hotels including Amankila Mangis Bali and The Serai Hotel Bali. Prior to this appointment, Kadek was the Chief Engineer of Le Meridien Nirwana Golf and Spa Resort, Bali.
With his expertise and extensive experience in Engeneering, he will be a valuable contribution to the Hard Rock Hotel Bali. In his new position, Kadek will rock the planet with the Leading Entertainment Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel Bali.

 

 

Made Merta Widana Front Office Manager

A Graduate from the Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bali, Merta’s career in the hospitality industry includes experiences at several well known hotels including Sheraton Lagoon Nusa Dua Beach Hotel, Amanusa Resort Bali, Radison Hotels Bali and Ujungpandang and the Four Seasons Resorts Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Prior to this appointment, Merta was the assistant Housekeeping Manager at Carnival Cruise Lines.
With his expertise and extensive experience in Rooms Division, he will be a valuable contribution to the Hard Rock Hotel Bali’s Room Division Team. In his new position, Merta will rock the planet with the
Leading Entertainment Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel Bali.

 

 

Kumi Takaba Japanese Guest Relations

Kumi was born in Tokyo in November 1981. After graduating from Nihon University, Japan, majoring in Economics, Kumi continued her studies in Australia and Canada. Kumi’s interest in the hospitality industry developed from the time she was in University. After her studies, she had the opportunity to work at Kei Plaza Hotel as well as the Eltorito Mexican Restaurant in Japan.
Prior to her Hard Rock appointment, Kumi was a Guest Relations Trainee at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, Bali. Kumi love water sport activities. She holds a valid scuba diving license from a reputable diving school. Traveling is also one of her interest. With her extensive experience, she will be a valuable contribution to the Hard Rock Hotel Bali’s Guest Relations Team. In her new position, Kumi will now rock the planet with the Leading Entertainment Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel Bali. (BTN/*)
