Surfing Group from Hawaii

KUTA - Surfing the Nations Foundation, a group out of Hawaii, will be bringing a large team of around 45 people here to Bali June 26 through July 19. This is the organization’s 8th annual summer trip to Bali, and they will be staying once again in Kuta beach. Surfing the Nations recently returned from doing tsunami relief work in Sri Lanka, and will be doing a great deal of humanitarian work here in Bali as well. They will be spending time working at local orphanages as well as taking medical supplies, toys, and clothes to those living on the outer islands by boat. As quite a large number people on the team are experienced surfers, much time will be spent surfing the breaks of Kuta beach and other popular surf spots here in Bali. At the end of their stay they will be putting on a huge banquet at Hard Rock Café. (BTN/*)

President Visits Benoa Harbour

BENOA – President Susilo Bambang Yodhoyono on the 21st May 2005 paid a surprise visit to Bounty Cruises. The President was on board The New Luxury “Vessell Performent” Motor Yacht (Bounty Cruises) for a inspection Benoa Harbour and Serangan Island. Lekang Turtles Hatched Eggs in Nusa Dua

NUSA DUA – A Lekang Turtle, one from six kinds of protected turtles hatched eggs at Nusa Dua Beach, Bali, Wednesday (11/5). The turtle hatches were about 50 meters southward of Melia Bali Villas and Spa Resort. A total of 88 eggs were saved and moved into a safe location by WWF Bali. Team coordinator, I.B. Windia Adnyana said turtles often hatched in the area for the past 2 years. Nusa Dua Beach is an ideal hatching site for turtles. Within 45 days, the eggs will hatch and tukik (little turtles) to be released into the sea. (BTN/*)


Live Performance by 63 KG Band

KUTA – 63 KG Band, with Bogle on Drums, Bayu on Vocals, Doddy on Bass and Otto on Guitar, amused Blues fans in Bali, Thursday (19/5) on center stage, Hard Rock Hotel Bali. The band is popular within the Indonesian music community, especially on top venue stage in Bali. The band released their debut album entitled “No Darker, than Black October” Independently. Generally, the four personnel of 63 KG played the music cover version during their performance. However, with motivation from their fans, the group finally released an album with original compositions. Their created debut album contains Blues, Folk and a little bit of the Country Rock touch. Doho Sendjojo’s Painting Exhibition

DENPASAR – The Painter Doho, born in Surabaya in 1940, is exhibiting his works at Sinyo Gallery, Gatot Subroto Timur Street, Denpasar. Many visitors admired his artistic naturalist works. His theme is assorted mostly of women activities in traditional markets, dances, and also harvesting. Seen in the picture, Sinyo, the gallery owner (second from right), chatting with visitors. The Grand Final “Body Painting Competition”

KUTA – Four painters consisting of Putra Gunawan (the winner first round), Putu Artayasa (the winner second round), I Made Aryana Duwita (Dedok) (the winner third round) and Ida Bagus Wanana (the winner fourth round) performed at the grand final “Body Painting Competition” held on Wednesday (1/6), at center stage, Hard Rock Hotel Bali. This grand final competition with total prize Rp 2 millions utilised beautiful young girls from Bali Supermodel for a 1-hour duration. Winner of the grand final ‘Body Painting Competition’ was Ida Bagus Wanana with the painting of ‘octopus in the sea’. (BTN/Para)
